Passenger window will not work

Dear fellow NSX owners,

I finally got motivated last weekend and took apart my two door panels on my '91 to view the type of window regulators the car has. I purchased the car in June '04 and have been very careful not to lower either window since reading about the early regulators breaking. Both windows worked fine when I checked it out last summer. I cleaned and re-greased the window tracks as well as the regulator knob. The good news, both doors have the updated box type regulators. The bad news, the passenger side window now will not work. I tested the passenger side motor by connecting the motor wires to the battery, it works fine both up and down. The window fuses under the hood are not blown, I removed and re-connected the window relay, still nothing. Any suggestions as where to go from here? Thanks.

Window Switch

Do you have both doors back together and it still won't work? The passenger side will not work if the driver's door switches aren't connected.

I removed the driver's side door panel first to check the regulator, then re-assembled it after greasing the tracks and the regulator knob. With everything re-assembled, it was at that point that I tested the passenger side, which did not work. I wish I tested both windows before removing the driver side panel, that way I would have known that the work I did probably contributed to the malfunctioning of the passenger window. At this point, I can only assume that there is a problem with either the switch or the wiring. Can anyone else make any suggestions? Thank you all for your assistance!!

_I think_ if the driver's window works, the connections should be good for the passenger side, too, through that door. But you might have to take both off and check or wiggle the connections to be sure. Hopefully something is just loose. Good luck.

This is a common problem, especially with new owners. The most likely cause is the "ON/MAIN" switch on the driver's side door panel. Make sure it is switched to "ON".

BTW there is a similar switch in the glove box that disables the trunk switch.

Hey guys,

I took Ken's advise and flipped the switch on the drivers door panel from "Main" to "on". I then tried the passenger window, it now works perfectly!! Man do I feel dumb!!!! I could have saved myself a couple of hours of frustration last weekend by reading up on the owners manual instead of looking at the service manual's troubleshooting list. Thank you so much for all the great advise. This site and its members are truly invaluable!!!
