It's in the sevice manual which is posted online here... http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Reference/1991_svcman/1991_svcman.htm

Here are the relevant pages. Take your time and don't force anything. It can take a little fiddling to really understand how it all works, but once you get one off it will all become clear. ALSO see the TSB illustrations because they specifcally show the rails you are trying to grease (they are not shown in the panel removal instructions below). http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Reference/tsb/93-004.htm

Please, please, take your time to find all the screws/tabs around the sides and bottoms that are under the weatherstrip. Most cars have clips that you pry to pop the panels off and so many NSX's have one or more of these tabs broken because they were overlooked by someone when taking the panel off and were just pulled on and snapped off.

I'm going through the same procedure to lubricate my window tracks. I'm having a bit of difficulty on step 5. I've removed the seven screws that hold the door panel...now the panel is to be lifted straight up and pulled away. My panel doesn't want to move very easily and I'm reluctant to just tug. Can someone give me some advice on this step? Also, is the lower window trim (this is the piece that has the chrome strip and rubber wiper) attached to the door panel, or to the door?
Thanks..

Animate,

I took my doors apart back in the fall before storing it for the winter. If I remember correctly I pulled the bottom of the panel out slightly as I pushed up. I also worked from the back of the door toward the windshield end. The chrome molding is not part of the panel. The panel sort of hooks in under the molding. Believe me it does come out.

The reason I did this procedure was to remove the speakers so I can have them rebuilt over the winter. In the spring I will install the door handle and window regulator fix-it thingies, grease the tracks and re-install the speakers.

Now my questions. How do you remove the plastic cover once the panel is removed? Does the adhesive have to be cut or can I just pull it off? Does it come off easier if I heat it first? What will I need to re-attach it? Will my Acura dealer sell the adhesive?

Thanks

John

One more important point. The Chrome piece at the top DOES NOT come off with the panel. The chrome part is clipped with very strong clips to the door inner edge. If you force the chrome part off, it will bend. Ask me how I know !!!!!

. Oh it is $62 if you need one.

EDIT: I do see now that caz-nxs mentioned that

CAZ, I just got my door back together. I just pulled gently and slowly to get the plastic off. When it came time to button it up I just pressed it back in place. It seems to hold fine.

Animate, glad you got the door apart and back together. Thanks for the info on the plastic, I will have to remember that this spring.

To seperate the frosted plastic sheet from the metal door panel you pull slowly and easily on the plastic until the adhesive (called mastic) starts to pull apart. At this point you can slice the mastic with an X-acto or razor blade, leaving some on the door and some on the plastic. This makes reassembly easier. If you rip some of the plastic repair the area with silicone when you reattach it to keep the area waterproof.
