Does anybody have any experience with either the palmOne Treo 650 or palmOne Treo 600? I have been looking for a new phone lately and came across these two. They seem to be good phones for email and time wasting and whatnot. Are either of the phones very durable? Ex. Can you keep them in your pocket with keys or a pen, without having a case on the phone? Thanks

Hi.

I have a 650 and have had a 600 (and a 300 and prior generations before that).

I make it a point to carry the phone in one pocket and keys in the other.

The 650 is great! The 600 has not been produced in months and has an inferior screen so I would not get one of those. The 650 also adds bluetooth and a user replaceable battery.

If you get a 650, look into getting TomTom Navigator 5 gps software and gps receiver for it as well. TomTom is wonderful software and as I haven't put in a navi system in the NSX, this is a good, inexpensive way to have it.

Feel free to reply, e-mail or PM with any add'l questions.

Wait a couple of months and get a Treo 700 (1st Qtr 06)! It will have the MS mobile OS. I like my Treo 650, but wish it wasn't palm OS.

I dont have one but I know a few people that do and there is plenty of software out there for the thing legal and not so legal as well as hacks and stuff. They got navi, games ect ect as well as full movies on the thing....I am told its not the best for web browsing and email but over all a good tool.

I have the treo 600, infact i have had 4.

As a pda its good, because of the keypad, and the numerous palm software, and syncing with outlook , even software to connect your laptop to surf the web on the go, on the laptop with decent speed ...

As a phone it sucks....the speaker phone and sound is horrible. Its a lemon. The reason i had 4 so far, is because of a continuous problem with reception sound, they keep replacing it.

The 650 is better because it has better resolution, an improvement in camera quality over the 600, bluetooth......but nevertheless, i still read complains about the quality of the phone itself like the quality of the 600..

If you really have to carry a pda and a phone in one...then the treo is your best option for a combination of both....but if sound quality and size is a concern to you..then its not for you.....

Go here ...you will learn alot about it..and find all the answers you need.specially from consumer feedback..

Well the 650 is just too expensive if your not buying a plan with it, so besides a video camera, what is holding me back from the 600? They are reasily available at a great price.

Really, avoid the 600. It's screen is terrible, you can't replace the battery if it fails, it doesn't have bluetooth. Mostly its the screen though. Stick with the 650 and then get the TomTom software. :) I'm a TomTom pusher. I hide in dark alleys and try to persuade innocent NSX owners to use TomTom.

Hee hee hee.

I'm a riot.

No, really I am.
