Painting roof to match question

I just wanted to know if I painted the roof to match the rest of my car, will the value of the car drop because it is not the original color anymore? Is this a good or bad desision to make? Thanks in advance.

I agonized over this for a long time. Although I respect the original concept of the canopy etc. In the end I made my decision because it was what I preferred. I honestly don't think it has affected the value. But I didn't cut any corners in making the change. My 94 was red / black so I bought a set of Zanardi wheels and made sure that everything I changed was consistent with the Zanardi edition. It wasn't so much that I was trying to create a copy so much as I wanted to keep the car consistent with what Honda saw fit to change. At least from an appearance perspective.

There have been several posts that addressed this subject in the past and I believe there was always a slight edge to the mono color scheme.

In the end what you think matters most.

Let us know what you decide.

If you want your car to look that way, and if you're planning to hold onto it a while, then do it - because you needn't worry about the market value.

But before you do, find an NSX-T in your color, to see what yours is going to look like. You may very well decide that it looks better with the black top, even though you might not feel that way now.

When I first got my car, I thought I would have preferred the "monochrome" look - until I actually saw one. Then I realized how well the "disappearance" of the contrasting black roof set off the gorgeous lines of the NSX bodywork.

Ditto!
...the black top grew on me after a few months because of the "disappearance" of the top slenderized the NSX more in my opinion.

I decided to go w/ the black roof on a yellow body.IMO it makes the car look lower and wider thus slightly more exotic or sporty and less conservative look.At night the top seems non-existent and the car looks like a wedge, which I like a-lot.Most people I see at the shows usually non-NSX owners comment they like that over the paint to match roof, thats my input and the input I've received from a few others.
Peace...

I like the black roof, and the way it blends with the rear hatch glass, so I'll be leaving mine stock. I am trying to decide whether or not to have the rear valence painted to match. I think it may make the car look lower and more aggressive. You guys that own black cars don't have to worry about this

Isn't it true that late-model coupes, when ordered, only came with black roofs?

When I had the red one I liked more the black top... I do not know why, but it seemed more "as it should be"...

With the silver I started thinking about painting it silver already after the first hours I got the car and (in my opinion) it looks much nicer. So ,at least for me, there is not a definitive answer to your question...

ps: about the "better" blending with the back window, you are right! Is what I always thought... on a red you have the three color scheme on the colored roof, black part around the rear window and rear window.
On a silver it is more neutral: silver/black/transparent against red/black/transparent. Ok I am lost in my explanation

I can see it both ways. In my case, the '00 coupe came from the factory with the body colored silver roof - and that goes in line with me trying to turn it into a Type S.
