I just bought a white NSX that the previous owner had the top painted to match the car. I prefer the stock look and want to paint it black again. I went to a local body shop, and they are telling me that they have to remove the windshield in order to do the job correctly. They are probably right, but I really hate to do that. Any suggestions? Thanks.

There is no reason or need to remove the windshield just the two top mouldings which they will most likely need to replace with new ones.
The outer moulding is like a upside down arrowhead that snaps into the bottom reciever moulding. The bottom one has adhesive that holds it on. You might be able to re-use one or the other but replacing both is not all that expensive. It's about 1/2 hour of labor to change both.

I don't believe they are trying to decieve you, it just looks like these moudlings go under the glass but they do not.

PS. the crud you see on the mouldings is spraymask. The top moulding in the pic is the reciever the bottom the outer garnish.

Thanks, I'll print a copy of your post and bring it with me. I really believe the first place I went to did not want to tackle the project, so they tried to discourage me. On to another place. Thanks for the input. Mark
