Well what a long day it was today. Up at 5:30 AM and on the DA sander I went. Totally prepped the car for paint, with the exception of the front bumper, which has to be completely stripped and primed, then sanded.

Bolted the new wheels on to roll it over to the wash area.

I hated to bolt the new rims on to wash it, but I have nothing else at my shop that will fit. We did a complete rinse, then removed the hood, rear glass and trunklid.

From there it was onto the paint booth where we jacked it up and removed the wheels again. 2 hours of taping and final preparations.

I used pure white base (3 coats), 1 silver pearl coat, then 3 clear coats. The results were astounding. I untaped it, bolted the wheels back on, and rolled it out into the setting sun to get a glimpse of how the pearl looks in the direct sunlight. Notice in this first pic how we used seam sealer to fill the crack between the rear spat and the rear quarter. Came out very nicely. Did the same thing with the side steps.

Here's a shot in the sun. You can barely make out the pearl

The paint job came out fantastic. I wish photos could show how deep and glossy it was, but unfortunately, they cannot. Next week i'll be doing the bumper, headlamp covers and spoiler all on the same day, then its a whole day of wet sanding and buffing. Should be all done by next weekend. Hope you enjoyed the pics! Ill post more of the finished product once i'm done, providing I still have the strength.

Great look, please share when you've got it all bolted back together. Any issues having the extentions sealed to the OEM without expansion?

Wow, even with the car still apart it looks awsome. It should be one heck of a visual impact once you get it all bolted back together. I like how the WW rear spat came out. Good job.

VERY NICE!! I like the overall look of the car.

The frist NSX that look good with VOLK GT-7.....nicely done......can't wait to see the finish product!!!!

Is there a reason why you leave all the panels on to paint? My only thought is that since the car is already white? If you were going to a completely different colour I'm guess you would pull all the panels off. no?

Im not quite sure of what you are asking, but i THINK you're asking why I didnt take every panel off to paint it??? Why on earth would you do that? They have never been off and the alignment is perfect on all of them. We took the hood and trunk lid off to eliminate tape lines across the front and back of them. There is no reason to remove the doors, fenders and quarter panels. Thats just making extra work for yourself, not to mention the risk of bumping it or dropping it while trying to reinstall them all with fresh paint on them. I hope I understood you correctly. :)

I think they meant taking the panels off to jam it. Heres what mine looked like last time it was painted.
Ah yes.... I couldnt remember the reason I went back with the original color. Thanks for reminding me, Brett ;)
