paint shop

I've used San Pedro Autobody before and was less than pleased with their work. It was pretty sloppy. I had them repaint my front and rear bumper and they didn't even take the bumper off the car to repaint. They just masked the surrounding areas and repainted it. I also think they did it w/o removing the existing paint. You can actually see where it was repainted and where they masked everything off. It was not a clean job at all. I even spotted a paint "blob" on the front bumper.

I know they did the Real Time Racing race car, but the work they did for my car was less than stellar. Maybe you actually have to ask for "quality work". In any case, I was not pleased.

I also had extensive work done a San Pedro ($13K) on my front end. The work was done just over 1 year ago. I was VERY PLEASED with their work at that time. I wonder when RyRy had his work done? I ask because I was told they had just hired back the "good" paint guy who had left for a while. I worked with Frank and just let him know how pickey I was going to be.

Good Luck

I had it done a year ago. Frank helped me as well. I think San Pedro Body does do good work if you give them the impression that you are a very anal customer which I guess I didn't.

I only did $3,000 worth of work though, which was painting the front front bumper and replacing my rear bumper. My car was not in an accident. I had alot of rock chips on my front bumper and a dent on my rear bumper. They told me I had to replace my rear bumper because the dent it had could not be repaired.

I was initally impressed when they would not give the car back to me because the color would not 100% match the car. I have a formula red car so you know how hard matching that color is.

When I picked it up I failed to examine it closely w/o driving it off the lot. My fault. I was just too excited to get my car back. At home I examined it closely and saw many many flaws. I can see paint drips, parts where they masked off etc. I called them immdiately and they didn't want to hear any of it.

In June I brought my car to them again (I wanted to give them one more chance) to repair my front bumper (from chips and excessive scraping). Frank came out and this time told me he was going to strip the old paint and repaint the bumper. Something he did not do the first time around. The first time he just painted over the existing paint.

Ca AGNSX, maybe in order for your car to be fixed ($13K is a huge sum) it was required to strip the paint and start from scratch. Maybe they thought my damage was not as severe and thought that they could get away from repairing my car w/o stripping the old paint. Or maybe a $3K job was not worth spending the extra time on my car. In any case, I did not expect this from them.

I made another appointment and was going to bring my car sometime in July of this year. I was going to tell them it had to be perfect and cutting corners to get the job done was not acceptable.

I never went. I instead decided to trade my blemished car for a new '01. Best decision I ever made.
