Paint protection film self install progress report :

I searched around for precut paint protection kits for my 02 and found :

1) kits that were between $800-$1100 (That price didnt even include professional installation!)

2) that no kits were available

So, I found a supplier that could sell me bulk rolls of film and bought 16 foot by 2 foot tall sheets. Ive so far put on film on the A pillars, on the hood, and passenger side fender area near bumper. Tonight ill be putting on the drivers side fender film and eventually this weekend or next week ill get around to putting it on the front bumper (hardest for last!). Im spending about an hour each time, then waiting a day or two to do the next section and im really enjoying doing it myself.

So far no major hassles except for the headlights since they are so countoured I cant seem to get the film to countour to the them.

If I have any material leftover im going to try to cover the mirrors, and the area right under the door handles.

Also, im having a hard time trimming the excess over the edges off each panel. Suprisingly, trimming the edges is harder than applying the film so far.

I put the drivers side fender piece on last night, and also cut out pieces that fit into the door handle well to protect the paint in that area. That door handle well area seems like an area that gets scratched easily !

Next I think ill redo the exterior a pillars and then attempt to do the front bumper. Man thats going to be a lot of work and im not looking forward to it !

Overall its coming along very nicely, much better than I thought it would !

best of luck and be patience. i tried it and all i could finish was the front light. tried the bumper over and over and over and over........did i mentioned overrrrrrrr? got so piss and kicked the wall for my failure ....ended up having red swollen toes
