Look carefully, the little marks look like Elvis faces. The Honda engineers loved Elvis and these special black cars are a tribute to him.
Pete has e-mailed me privately about this problem and I feel foolish for being a glib wise guy. Far as I know there were no factory defects resulting on crescent shaped marks in the paint of early NSX's. The condition is most likely damage to the paint while in service or a bad repaint.
