Hi,

I'm in the market for a black or silver NSX, I live in South Side, Pittsburgh, and am asking if there are any owners of a black NSX local to PGH who would not mind my stopping by for 10 minutes to remind myself of what a black NSX looks like in person. This may seem like an odd request, but I've mostly paid attention to and have recently seen only silver NSX's and am rather comfortable and familiar with them, but I have not seen a black NSX in a few years and - strange as it may sound - I believe seeing one would help me solidify my shopping to either one or the other, especially if I find myself making a decision over a silver one before I get to see another black NSX. I've owned two black cars to date, a 93 Probe GT and a 91 300zx, but I need to re-remind myself of the aura of a black NSX vs. the great look in silver.

I suppose there are some who completely "get" this request and maybe some who may not. But thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help.

Many thanks - A.

Thanks Saleen. I'm sure I'll come across a black one to view sometime here soon, and the search is moving along well, I have a post here at the WTB area and also just joined NSXCA and hope to make some contacts thru it.

I've got a Black Beauty...If u find yourself on LI you're more than welcome to come take a look. I shouldn't even offer you a peek being that your Steelers knocked my Jets out of the Superbowl.

Rob thanks and I hope you get to enjoy the super bowl anyway. Going into it I wasn't exactly sure how the game with the Jets was going to turn out, and I feel the same way about this Sunday. Sure to be a good one.

As far as the color discussion, I love a black car, I've owned two before and I currently own a silver 02 Accord sedan whose paint is really sharp and makes the simple sedan look pretty interesting (when it's cleaned up, my neighbor has mistaken it for a Mercedes, good or bad) - but the few silver NSX's I've seen really make the car's lines and curves stand out. I just need to see another black NSX in person to decide whether or not to keep that on the table. If only one could switch it like a light. I'm convinced a lot of the NSX's charm and holding power comes from what was once considered a shortcoming - its styling, or lack thereof. I'm not a fan of the current lemmings trend on automotive styling where designers seem to never be finished designing a car. So many gratuitous sheetmetal creases and bulges and over-ornamentalized fascias and light clusters...with all that copy-catting, to me most current cars look like Toyotas with too many SEMA bolt-ons. No lines on the original NSX look over-thought-out or out of place, and they are especially attractive on a white, yellow, silver, etc. light colored car, IMHO.

As you can tell I have a lot of pent-up frustration regarding automotive design. As an engineer at Ford in the 90's it was especially frustrating to see exciting pre-production European Mondeos and Escorts come thru the test center with "Hip 90's Volkswagon styling" years before VW got hip, only to see the north american planners introduce watered-down products like the Contour and Mystique. On the upside, Ford seems to have gotten back on the ball, some of their upcoming products look great. Sorry, end of diversion, thanks for any Pittsburghers with a Black NSX who are still with us here. And go Steelers, n 'at.

I used to live in Pittsburgh (Bethel Park) back in the 80's. Currently in Raleigh, NC. I have a black NSX. Actually was looking for a Silverstone but found mine 5 years ago here in Raleigh. It was perfect and gorgeous and I couldn't walk away from it. Purchased it from a former Pittsburgher who was also a CMU grad. We are still close friends and he wants to buy it back.

Black is gorgeous, but you have to be up to the challenge of keeping the finish flawless. Silver is much more forgiving. I have attached two photos of cars that were posted by Pittsburgh owners at one time. Not sure if these cars still live in Pittsburgh, but they both are pretty incredible with great aftermarket wheels.

Good luck in your search!
