That's great. What's even funnier is that she has the same expression on her face as the Yoda doll.

You have to give management credit. They set up a bonus program to motivate their employee's and it worked. I wonder how much income it generated for them. They could have at least bought her a 1:18 Camry.

Did she ever stop to think how irrational it would be for a company to buy her a car for selling a few extra beers? Purpose of the company is to make money, not to take all the extra revenue it received and give it away. Clever little stunt by Hooters, definitely, but the fact that she is suing over it is just plain rediculous. They are some of the best paid (well-tipped) entry-level restaraunt workers in the US - she should be happy that she still has a job.

haha! Sorry, that just sounds funny to me for some reason.

Hell no she didn't think. She was too busy chugging beers, because she figured getting drunk and paying for beers herself was cheaper than buying a new car.

This reminds me of the old Winnebago prize scam. I can't remember which company did it, but the offered the consumers choice of a free prize for signing up for something. In the literature there was a picture of a Winnebago motor home. On the prize page there was just a text listing that said something like "Winnebago product." Somewhere else in the literature it was mentioned that the Winnebago product was a Winnebago sleeping bag. People thought they were getting a freaking motor home.

Hooters, where are they?

Those are the 2 big (or little) things between the neck and belly button, usually found on females.

So do you all think it's right for a company to use deception to motivate workers? If that's ok, what's to stop them from taking the concept further?

I think it's completely unprofessional for an employer to do that. She was working under false pretenses that were deliberately set up by her employer. And I feel they deserve to take the loss and buy her the Toyota.

How would you like to work all month trying to win a cruise for your family? Clearly in the lead, you tell your family the good news and everyone is looking forward to this cruise you are going to win. So the day comes and your manager presents you with a taxi that will take you and your family on a cruise down main street. Think all your extra hard work was deserving of being the butt end of the joke? Would you take it and ask your family to laugh along with you? I sure as hell wouldn't.

Well, I still dont think she qualifies as a hooter.

Nods in agreeance. I thought the 'enlargment factor' was the whole spiel for hooters

However, i would be miffed at a false promise too. Obviously hooters 'breast before brains' policy extends up the hierarchial ladder. Maybe Yoda was there as her legal representation :D

"Sue or sue not, you made her cry" - Yoda.

EDIT:

The restaurant's manager, Jared Blair, has said the whole contest was an April Fools' joke.

Whose the fool now? :D

I dont believe it... i've been saving this pix for months... this woman could use a back massage from yoda too. :D

First of all, she was paid to work at Hooters. Not on a voluntary basis.
She should be giving her best performance for that pay check. We don't know if she worked any harder than she normally did.An April Fool's joke is an April Fool's joke. Have a laugh and get on with your life.
This whole thing was probably not in writing anyway. I bet if anyone else won the toy Yoda. she would have laughed along with the others.
This case is an encouragement for our citizens to look for monetary compensation for any reason.

I see it as a discouragement for employers to try and pull a fast one on employees through deception.

And obviously there's a judge out there that sees it the same way.

Wow. If SHE sold the most beer, imagine what the OTHER girls there must look like...

Probably more like the Yoda doll.

Exactly what I mean and, therefore,I repeat myself, there is something wrong with our legal system.
You never had an April Fool's joke played on you?
You have no proof that the manager was deceiving the employees. Maybe it was truly a joke. This girl just took advantage of our legal system.

Yes, by friends. And never under those circumstances like this woman.

Having a judge award her the victory would have me tend to believe there was proof. Judges usually don't award someone a settlement without proof.

I think it was Hooters that initially tried to take advantage of the employees they were deceiving. She just made them follow through with their implied claim of a giveaway. Good for her! :)

I am glad you approve this kind of frivolous lawsuit.
I am in the medical field and I have heard of many ridiculous suits as well.
I have little faith in our legal system.
