Hey Guys,

I was wondering if anyone has installed the OS Giken LSD w/4.40 R & P in their NSX yet? I'm having one installed next week and was maybe looking for some heads up on it.

Thanks,

John

Who is doing the install?

Please post your thought when you have had a chance to drive it hard:D

The Barn Man in Nashville...I will post when I get it back for sure once I have a chance to break the clutch in and get on it for real!

Well it's in. I've only put about 400 miles on my NSX after the new clutch so I haven't really gotten the full affect of it yet, but I will say this....EVERYONE NEEDS SOME LSD! The NSX pulls SO much harder now coming out of turns it's amazing. MJ described it to me as "extra 100hp for the turns..." I feel it:-) I can't wait to do a dead stop launch and see how much whip lash I get! This is not a upgrade for your average weekend driver. If you track your NSX or drive it like it's on a track...it's a must. The rear is very tight and you can hear the LSD discs doing there job in very slow tight turns...very cool! The 4.40 seems to be the ticket for the R & P gear too. I can diffenately feel a diference, but not so much like the Comptech 4.55. I guess maybe OS hit it on the nose going in between the Type-R and Comptech R & P. I will be back with more new's soon...need a few more miles on the clutch before we go "full throttle" :D

A BIG THANKS TO THE BARN MAN! He did an excellent job and went well beyond the call of duty a few times so I could have my baby back ASAP!

The stock NSX includes a Torque Control Differential that is similar to, but has some advantages over, a conventional LSD. It is described here.

There are adjustments that can be made to the stock differential for those who are looking for even greater responsiveness on the racetrack.

I guess the big difference between the OEM LSD and the OS Giken LSD is 4 clutch plates vs. 28 clutch plates. Giving the OS Giken more adjustability and locking power, but taking away from the daily driver factor?

Under what conditions would I notice an unfavorable change in daily driving dynamics (noise, trade-offs, etc). My 2002 is intended to me a fairly high-perf NA street car, with light track and autocross duty. Your experience and feedback are most appreciated.

What adjusments, and what trade-offs should I expect?

The OS Giken comes in either 1.0, 1.5 or 2.0 from the factory. The adjustments that can be made would be before you install it to get the exact set-up you are looking for. I have noticed no trade off's except for the fact that my car is faster and does much better in straight line and out of turns accelerating:-)

Paul,

I have the 1.5 in my NSX. I went with that one because I think it best fit my needs. The 1.0 is for street and the 2.0 is for full race and I'm right in the middle. I did a few track events last year and 2 trips to the 1/4. The 1.5 is more for both applications. Gives you a streetable car, but helps on the street and track:-) I can notice a difference in both "spirited street driving" and at track events (solo2 and HPDE). Maybe when I get my next NSX and go full track with it I will consider a 2.0.

I'm sorry if I misunderstood you, regarding the 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0:
is that just a level 1, 1.5 and 2, the adjustment of how fast they react?

or you are actually talking about 1 way, 1.5 way and 2 way LSD??

Here's the link on the different set-ups on the OS Giken LSD. Maybe this will help everyone a bit! I guess another reason I went with the 1.5 is because I'm not pro driver yet and don't mind a bit of forgiveness that the 2.0 might not offer in certain applications
