Fellow NSXers,

My two friends and I are in Orlando Convention Center attending a conference. We need to take a break from the craziness! Any recommendations? Restaurants, museums, go karting, etc???

Depends on what you like to do. There are a lot of good restaurants on that side of town off of Sandlake.

Moonfish Grill, great place for Steak and Seafood
Timpano's
Roys
Seasons 52
Samba Room's not bad.

I can't speak too much for the night life during the week but you are not too far from Millenium Mall, which has Blue Martini, high end club with mixed clientel. Young to old...not so rich to rich...

Not sure what their busy nights are. Mondays used to be and I am sure they are busy on the weekends.

Cafe Tu Tu Tango is a pretty cool restaurant on I-drive that I like, think of it more of a date place but it's something different with appetizer sized portions that you share.

Opa is down there in Point Orlando, can be fun, (Encourage people to eat on the tables) but usually not busy during the week. Maybe that's different now since it's tourist season.

Downtown Orlando for Wednesday, Urban Flats has a Wine down Wednesday event, pay $18 unlimited wine and food buffet til 7 or 8 can't remember. Pretty strong following especially if the weather is nice.

You could catch a Magic Game, they are playing tonight, not sure how available tickets are. Heard the new Arena is very nice.

HTH, if you are looking for other suggestions let me know.

The fun spot has go karting but it's kind of weak. Well more focuesd on the kids than competitive go-karting. So may just depend on what you want. Lots of shopping down there too, between the Premium Factory Outlet and the Bealls Factory Outlet.

I can't remeber the name of the restaurant but its on the same drive (Orlando drive?) as the convention center. It has a large sailfish (Or whatever) hanging in front of the place that makes it look cheezy and touristy but I got taken there and they have great seafood and steaks. Highly reccomend. There's also a great steak place nearby that is fairly famous I ate at as well. Best steak around. Possibly someone will remember the name of that and sorry that I can't come up with the names. I'll try to find them as both were fantastic and worth going to IMO.

I have never eaten there so can't attest to it. Loved Moonfish though. As for the other famous steak place it could be Charley's same company owns Moonfish. So either way you will get a good steak.

If you are really craving meat, Texas De Brazil is down there....go hungry...and feeling very carnivorous!

theres a "unofficial" car meet on tues night at the buffalo wild wings on alafaya trail (east orlando).

mostly a younger crowd but can be rather entertaining...x

We ended up going to New Punjab Indian Restaurant on International Drive and had some good indian food and Kingfisher beer. Owner of Kingfisher started the Force India team in F1. I had it for the first time and it tasted good. Not too spicy, but just right. Orlando is a nice place, but I prefer Chicago so far. Thanks to everyone who responded.

You haven't really seen Orlando. Just the touristy side which many local persons do not often venture down to. Sadly when my friends think of Orlando they wonder why they would visit as all we have is the theme parks and shopping. Your experience in the city is greatly dependant on where you go and who you are with. Just my $.02.

If you need additional recommendations let me know. Looks like todays a nice day so Wine Down Wednesday at Urban Flats will be busy most likely. Nice crowd...professional with some good looking women too...We have a lot of those in Orlando:wink:
