Original Taitec center out VS new center out lightweight

i was talking online with another NSXer and we came to this question. Maybe Chris from SOS or Cybernation can enlighten us.

The original taitec center out and the new parallel out exhaust uses canister design(?) muffler as opposed to the lightweight centerout/gt exhaust uses baffled(?) muffler. Now I guess the baffled muffler weighs less than canister design. So what is the benefit of using the canister design? Is it more efficient overall? Is it proven that it makes more power?
