Opinions needed...rear window garnish/trim

Being I have always thought the louvers in the rear window trim looked outdated, (and I have a serious problem with leaving well enough alone  ), I decided to cut them out and have the piece painted. My question is, back to black, or body color. It may also get some type of mesh behind it later, depending on what it looks like when it is finished. I haven't had much luck finding any pics of color matched, and I need to give my brain a break. Any help would be great!

Thought about it, but it is quite spendy ($700+)

procar has them but they are $1100. Pretty expensive but very hot!

That looks good Mad...did you cut slots in the mesh to fit over the fins, or lay the mesh in from behind? I can't tell from your pic.

The mesh is behind the fins.
it's easy to mount.
Will take a close pic as soon as my cam is back alive.

With mesh it looks like this.....

Cut out fins, sand smooth, add mesh from rear, paint black, $10

Jdnsx..Yours looks great. I left the two middle fins in mine for support, does it seem to be ok without them? Also, what paint, and mesh did you use? I was going to send this piece to my painter, but I don't think I want a clearcoat finish if I keep it black anyway. Maybe I'll just do it myself. Thanks for the input.

Any pics of one that has been painted body color out there?
