Opinion: Wings West kit with or without rear valance?

I noticed that a lot of people have put on the Wings West kit without putting on the rear valance. I'm not sure if that looks good or not. The Wings West rear valance is a little ugly. Some have told me that no rear valance is the way to go for true NSX fanatics. How many of you do not have the rear valance on? thanks.

how much is the OEM 2003 rear piece from a dealership? Are there any non-dealer merchants that sell it for cheaper? Are there any aftermarket replicas? Thanks.

I think it is a matter of preferance to say its ugly? I installed the rear valance on the rear of my car I like the way it looks. The only complaint is it was very hard to align the WW spats parallel with the OE lip (Fangs) and also have it look correctly from the side.

Many others get the 02+ rear valance instead. I would image the honda part would be expensive? Maybe there are aftermarkets avail. The 02 honda part would be more difficult to install, but would most likely fit the best!

Here is a pic of my rear WW spat, I really struggled with it to get them on right, but this is the best I could do at the moment, as parallel as I could get and have no gap from the sides... more pictures on my site...

The ultimate (IMO) combination is the Wings West Kit, but with the 2002/2003 OEM NSX Rear End/Valance.

I feel the same way! But, with a blk NSX like mine, I'm not sure how the rear would look. For example, on the red 2002 rear valance, there is a strip(mesh piece?) that is black. On a blk NSX, is wouldn't be seen, so I've been thinking about what to do with the rear end once I install my ww sides. I was thinking about painting that part dk silver.
btw, if your NSX is not blk, the 2002 rear is definately the way to go!

I'd like to disagree with you. I happen to think that if you paint the lower valence along with the spats that the rearend looks great. But I do agree that the ww side skirts with the 02-03 factory valence looks sweet.

Here's mine for example:

I stand corrected! :D DocL, looks great! I guess either way, you can't go wrong, just depends on personal preference. I myself am having trouble deciding on the two. Leaning towards the ww myself! :p

the thing i don't like about the ww rear spats is that i have yet to see a set that fit up properly. they don't match up with the bumper. that's why i say go with the 2002 rear. why put something that looks cheap on your 80k hand-built, all aluminum sportscar?

I also do not like the fit at all. The one I have seen vary from a poorly fit to ...worse... sorry... I also decided to go for the WW front/side and keep the OEM rear (with the Tubi it is difficult to use a OEM '02 valance, it needs to be modified).

I am happy with the result and in reality it looks better than in photos since you do not notice the height difference between the side and rear that much!

Here's a pic on Enzo-who's rear setup. (Aaron, I hope you don't mind.) He has the Wings West sides and the 02/03 valence. Myself, I have the Wings West sides and rear on my black 95. Personally, I like the look AND fit of the 02/03 OEM rear, but I have the RM DTM exhaust, and the quad tips will not fit in the OEM exhaust ports. :(

For those comtemplating the '02+ rear valance mod, the parts #'s are:

Skirt, RR 71511-SLO-000ZZ

Stay, RR 71555-SLO-010

Get them from Niello Acura 916-334-6300
Valance is around $520 with 30% NSXCA discount, stay <$20.

I have bunch of pics on here if you search - also see avatar to the left. (Also looks just like Fury's pic of Enzo's with different wheels)
I have to say that most of the WW spat installs have very poor fit - it is difficult to get it aligned for both side & rear perspective, as Rudeboy acknowledges; DocL's looks better than most but we're only seeing it from one view, the rear (no disrespect). Most you see will have the side aligned well, but from the rear it has to be at an angle, which just spoils the appearance. I've reported elsewhere about WW fit issues including those of the skirts but the product is good value forthe money - just wish they would take it a little further to make it even better.
Again, as mentioned elsewhere, '02+ will not work with a dual tip exhaust however.
I do think its a good idea to differentiate the grille colour - on my red (the valance is all red, unlike Fury's OEM colour scheme) the grille is black & so are the WW skirts grilles, as well as matching home-made Zanardi style mesh side-scoop griles. On a black car, I think the contrasting grilles in silver would look excellent!

D'Ecosse and the others are right. The fit on my black 95 Wings West rear spats (like others) is really not that good. In order to get the side profile right, the rear alignment needs to be compromised. In all the 02 fitments I've seen, on the other hand, the fit has been impeccable.

I do agree that the fit isn't perfect, but I did have it installed by a body shop and they did a decent job. Here is a 3/4 view, although not a close-up. The more I see the 02-03 rear the more I want to do the conversion.

I think the 02+ rear valance gives a sharp look, complements the rest of the WW kit, and is easier to fit.

Two reasons I went with th WW sprats, Tubi and if you look at a side profile the WW sprats. They cover the muffler and the cats that hang down. I dont think the 03 rear does that.
I have not made up my mind if I am going to paint it red yet.

i just got my rear spat reinstall......only after a year and the half the thing fell off...

Humm, I just installed mine a few weeks ago. The body guy that helped me install used a small bead of automotive urethane along side the DB sided tape. Worked great on the rear very sturdy. I also had to drill a drain hole so that water would drip out and not fill up in the spat!

But considering all they '02 looks good and the WW looks good, it comes down to one thing what is your preferance!:D

P.S AndyH> what wheels and spring combo are you using? Looks amazing :D
