Let's try this again. The last post I made got a great reply from Wildrice, and I am tempted just by what he said, but I want to get as much feedback on this idea as I can, since I haven't heard much about doing this...

"I have been thinking of getting aftermarket rims for some time now, but it seems that no one has done what I was considering - going with an aftermarket rim like the Volk TE-37s in the stock 15/16 sizes (same widths, as well).

I would think that this would a) lower the weight per wheel by a small amount, and b) improve the looks of the car (if I got the right color rims, probably a gunmetal grey on my Sebring silver).

What do you all think? Everyone always seems to want to go with bigger rims, but I haven't seen anyone switch rims and stay with the stock sizes.

I am concerned with a)looks, b)price, and c)performance, but not necessarily (sp) in that order. Specifically, I don't want to lose performance just to look better...

Oh, for the record, the only mods on my car are the Tein suspension and Dali sway bars (but I might be switching the sways back to stock).

Are the stock rims better than TE37s in the same size? What do you think?

I too have been thinking of coming back down to 15/16's on my silver 92. I love the Volk GT-N's but they don't seem to come in such small sizes.

Do the Volk TE-37's, you won't regret it. Deal with MJ at DaliRacing. He can have them repowdercoated in any color you would like. Silver is very hard to get, white and bronze much easier. But as I said, he can have them repowdercoated in the color of your choice.

For peformance stay with the 15/16. You will not believe the difference with near a 6lb weight drop per corner. You can feel it.
That coupled with a few other weight reduction measures and you can trim some pretty nice numbers of your times.

MJ, at DaliRacing, is setting up a Dali Craig Weight Loss category. Go there and look at how you can trim some significant weight off your vehicle. Search under Dali Craig and you will find the information.

A sage old entrepreneur once told me that it is hard to find ways to save $100 but easy to find 100 ways to save $1.00. The outcome is the same just the journey a little bit longer and more difficult. But alot of the fun is in the journey not the destination.

Also, don't forget about the tires. Larger tires weight more. A few pounds here and a few pounds there adds up.

The tires that are available for my set up in(16/17) in 215/45 -16 and 245/40-17 vary from a low of 21 lbs for the front to a high of 27 lbs for rear with the Yokohama A022HO weighing in at the lowest combined total at 21.3 for the front and 25.9 for the rear.

Heh, as soon as you want - when's good for you? Done with the Maximum Boost book?

As for the phat dubs - umm, don't even get that one.
