Hi,
Does anyone have any experience opening up the window regulator assembly ? I opened up the small electro motor that drives the assembly to check and that is pretty straightforward. But before I attempt to open up the mechanism that drives the cables outward and inward of the motor assembly, I would very much like to know if anyone has experience doing this or can explain how the inside mechanism works ... the reason for this is that one side just doesn't seem to work as it should and all other possible adjustments and cures have been done ... frustrating this window mechanism.
It will probably not be troublefree ever, but I might get it to work better than it does now:eek: .

The window regulator may not be the problem here but before you mess around with it I would suggest cleaning and re greasing the tracks. The windows on the nsx have this common problem and the usual fix is to clean and re apply the right grease to the tracks. If your car is a early model do a search for window fix it thingys because there is another weak link in the window set up which fails and can cause major problems. Hope this helps

Thank you Acura Nsx, but all that has been taken care of already.
I remember reading in this forum that a few people have opened
'something' having to do with the window regulators to find a 'birdsnest'
(whatever they mean by that  ) inside ...

I belive that refers to what it turns into if you dont know what you are doing. Spring steel inside I am guessing.... if the proper precautions arent taken.

Try calling Alexander at Window Regulators USA. He fixed mine a while back.

Another NSXer reported he was charging $85 to fix them and it included shipping. More info on that topic is located here

Thank you for the information, but after taking contact I learned that they only service USA mainland. after all, the name is Window Regulators USA

I have never seen this mentioned before, but my regulators were missing the plastic(?) guides(4 on each carrier) that go on the ends of the carrier that slides up and down the channel on the regulator. If the carrier has alot of play in it on the channel, yours may be also missing these bushings. I found one of them laying in the bottom of the door, and used it to make replacements out of nylon. Windows now work better than they ever have since I have owned it, although the drivers side still has a slight hesitation about halfway up that I cant seem to get out. hope this helps

This could be it nsxaddicted ! After checking I noticed that I miss two of these. I will look into it more closely, try to make some myself. It looks like a kind of hard rubber. Much appreciated. Thank you.

I made two out of rubber, had to cut two of the outside edges of the rubber piece to get to the right shape and made the centre hole with a soldering iron. They are on the regulator and work ok. Now I'm waiting for the special grease that I ordered a few weeks ago
From the waiting time it looks like it's coming all the way from Japan.
I hope this is going to solve the problem of the window going up too slow
to be normal.

Have you been through the whole window adjustment ritual? That is time consuming at best....Hopefully those pieces you made will help it out.

I did. Twice. And checked.
Oh well, at least this part of the problem has been taken care of also.
Has the regulator system changed very much during the years ? I have the feeling like the electric motor is lacking the power to lift the weight of the glass. The lifting goes smoothly by hand, and the regulator works fine when it's working without having to lift the window...

The pieces you made will make a differance, as it won't bind on the way up, and cleaning the tracks and lubing does wonders also.. You can also pull the motor off ther regulator, clean the commutator on it and relube it seems to help also. Kind of A pain to get the brushes back in it.

Thanks nsxaddicted. I already took the motor off. Putting the brushes back in
was a pain, like you say and I had to take care the metal ball at the end of the axe stayed in place while putting the 'cap' back on.
