This past weekend was the opening weekend at PIR for the season, and we couldn't have asked for better track conditions. The weather was great and traffic very light. Cheap track time, we used it for driver instruction and test. The first day of the year, many used it to further work-out any lingering technical problems, try some new things out, burn off left-over rubber from last year, and get things dialed in. Everyone had a great time, and the PNW event was a success thanks to the cool Audi guys.

Here are some pics, enjoy:

John, your car looks even better on the track!

I have to give this a try sometime, looks like a blast.

Is that a stock exhaust?

Beautiful car ...

In the absence of the Kawagen.. yeah, Headers, test pipes, and a stock exhaust that day.

I have two other center exit style exhausts I routinely alternate between; one being essentially open header, and the other not much more aggressive than OE a nice LEV street canister which is perfect for long touring trips for when you want to actually hear the stereo... and unfortunately I had some words with Colby early on about my 109db noise level from BMW day with the more aggressive configuration (which honestly is pretty obnoxious at about three times louder than a Taitec JGTC center exit) so in the end I just had to do whatever I could to keep it quiet for the balance of that event without the Kawagen on hand, otherwise the event coordinators apparently can get fined by the hound dogs from the state so I mounted the OE back on.

Amazingly towards the end of they day actually even the stock exhaust manifold can get a little raspy.. could just be the wear of hours on my ears or the heat.. but I hate using that as it doesn't work very well for me as I have to angle the diffuser down too far to be very effective and ditch some of the rear canards because the OE canister is so large and gets so hot. It's also obviously very heavy, and is really in a less than an ideal position but that's what I had on hand that day in the pits per the pics and thus had to improvise. I actually took a Scizzaw to it this week.. I think I found a great use for it.. heh..

In general thou, that's becoming the norm way of things at track days- gatta watch the db's or risk the meat ball- I've run into similar issues with my street exhaust on my other car, a magnaflow that I guess Don & the proformance guys at SIR call sweet but but over the top... I was like "Hey there is a turn down pipe on the end... blah.. like come on.. ".. Heh... but anyways I count myself lucky, as I know it is even more stringent down at many venues in Cali like 85-89db range... uggh.. that must really suck..

..come to the race track and have some fun, but please don't make any noise... :frown:
