The DallasNSX group / Dead Ass Last Racing team has been working overtime on the latest foray into national (and maybe international) competitions. Our plans are still a bit fuzzy... maybe it's the margaritas doing that, but the Tex-Mex powered NSXs from Dallas are sure to cause quite a stir somewhere, somehow...

Our first entry was the Big Bend open road race in Fort Stockton, Texas. Captain Marc Weinberg jumped ship and moved to the badlands of California, but we managed to get navigator and master mechanic Brent Cobb to split from defending our country in the Air Force and move on up to Dallas from San Antonio to take charge of things.

Out next entry will be from our very own Jon York from Rockwall... he is entering a fully race prepped NSX (and the only NSX) in Car & Driver's One Lap of America next month. Jon has been working tirelessly for the last dew months at his exotic car facility in Florida, and has been testing the car at tracks whenever possible, most recently at Homestead. Details about the race conversion of the car will be available somewhere, sometime soon... suffice it to say that about the only thing that didn't get done was the installation of a 4.2L GT engine, which will have to wait until after One Lap.

Details about the One Lap event can be found here:
http://www.onelapofamerica.com/

Jon has given his second seat in the car for the event to Armand Puig, a renowned European GT driver from Spain. Between the top-notch driver and the top-notch car (of course), we expect that Jon will give the other teams a run for their money.

The "DallasNSX" group, Science of Speed and Eurosport Racing Group are the major "supporters & sponsors" of Jon and Armand's efforts. The Science of Speed website will have daily updates on the events and Jon & Armand's progress from May 3rd to 11th. SoS's update page isn't yet "public"... but we trust it will be revolutionary.

For NSX owners, trackjunkies and speed freaks local to the Dallas / Fort Worth area, we welcome you to come out and see Jon and Armand represent Texas (and Spain, I suppose) at the following tracks:

Hallett Motor Racing Circuit - Hallett, Oklahoma: Sunday, May 5th from 14:00-19:30
Texas World Speedway - College Station, Texas: Wednesday, May 8th from 08:00-15:00

Got any photos of Jon York's NSX yet? I'm also curious to know which supercharger (or turbo system) he's running.

That's really all I know... Jon has been too busy with prepping the One Lap car to go into detail with the goodies he acquired on his last trip to Japan.

I'll see what I can find out, I don't think Jon spends any time on NSXPrime. He's probably too busy with our own DallasNSX email list (which gets up to 70-100 messages a day sometimes).

I'll be watching from California. Best of luck!!!

Here's the official Dead Ass Last logo. Gotta put one of these on the car!

I don't want to post any pictures of Jon's car before it is done, out of respect to the sponsors who will be represented on the car. Not all the logos are done yet. I do have one picture I can share, of the car just last week at Homestead during testing.

The car is running normally aspirated. Jon was considering a supercharger, but wanted to freeze any further development of the car long enough before the event to be able to test, tune and sort out any issues long enough in advance to be able to resolve them adequately. Items like the suspension, brakes, lubrication, etc., etc., ad nauseum were more important to the overall performance of the car in this event than the supercharger.

Remember - One Lap is a road rally on public highways with stops at race tracks where a time trial takes place. Vehicle reliability, handling and driveability are just as important as raw horsepower, if not more so.

Unfortunately, we didn't have this in time for Jon to include it in the graphics being done for the car. Don't worry - we do have a good DallasNSX "logo" represented.

Now that you're in California, I suppose that Dead Ass Last isn't just a Texas thing anymore, is it? Besides, you don't have many Armadillos in Los Angeles county, do you?

We're going to miss you at NSteXpo!

What’s this about a 4.2l NSX motor? I think someone may be mistaken. You can’t bore the block out more than 3.2l, and you can’t stroke more than about 3.4 or 3.5l (ive heard you can use the crank out of your RL), but 4.2l only sounds possible with a different block altogether. Is this the case? It must be if that figure is correct.

There are ways to do it. I am curious to see how this one was done. I have been exploring the limits of displacement via bore/stroke of the block. With deck plates, you could go pretty big. For example, my tuner (Norwood) is now producing 2.8L H22 motors with custom cranks and deck plates. They have a 4.25" throw - the same as a BBC!
