Once again...cost??

Brian,

To answer your question in a usless way, it will be around $3000 to replace the entire front bumper with new OEM parts at typical prices by the time you add paint and labor. Hood will be around $1500 because the part is expensive.

But if you do not know more specifically what front bumper parts you need, and you are not willing to try and determine it from the parts list I gave you a link to in this thread, then NOBODY is going to be able to give you an accurate estimate of how much it will cost to repair your car. You certainly do not need ALL the 20+ bumper parts unless the whole front of your car is destroyed. But every accident is different so your exact parts will be different, which can mean many hundreds of even thousands of dollars difference in price.

For example, if you just damaged say the lower valance panel as you suggested in another thread, you may be able to get out the door for maybe $350. If you damaged the main bumper cover, the part alone retails for about $900. An entire headlight assembly, cover, bracket, motor, etc. retails for over $1000 new. So if you damaged a lot of parts, or a headlight, it may cost $3500+ to fix it with new factory parts. $350 - $3500 is a useless range of estimates.

I and many others will try to help you or any other NSX owner, but you have to at least make an effort to help us help you. People can't do everything for you. For example, if you have questions about what parts are likely damaged, post some pictures and we will try to make some educated guesses about what needs to be replaced.

Lud, I more than appreciate that post! it was helpful! I do not believe i need all the pieces, however, my bumper was in bda shape to begin with (someone backed into me one day while paralleled and took off) so my mechanic is going to replace the whole assembly. I just wanted to know how much because I am going to buy an aftermarket bumper from SNDSOUL for $1300 (he said its already been mounted so its ready to go). Whatever's left from my insurance check in that range will be used for side skirts and the deductible.

Sorry for not saying specifically because it is the whole thing.

Brian, that is helpful. However, please understand that the aftermarket bumpers / noses are NOT the entire bumper assembly.

If you look at that parts diagram, there is a bunch of structural stuff, brackets, retainers, turn signals, etc.

But a typical aftermarket "full nose" replacement is really just a plastic "shell" that replaces the visible parts like the bumper cover, lower valance and spoiler.

The exact details vary depending on the aftermarket part, but a "full nose" replacement will typically replace parts #1, #16, #18, and #19 on the "front bumper" section of the parts diagram http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Reference/1991-1998_repair_catalog/parts2.jpg

The cost to replace and paint just those 4 parts with brand new OEM parts would be around $1500-$1800 at retail -- a few hundred less if you get a decent discount on the parts.

If there is structural damage underneath, or to the turn signals or headlights, or anything else, it will need to be repaired in addition to replacing the bumper cover and valance (the top and bottom halves of the nose) with either factory or aftermarket parts.

Most likely, the insurance will not pay you for a new front bumper cover ($900). They will send it to a Bumper Repair Shop and have them repair it for $500. Unless you are going to pay for the differents, I don't think the insurance company will pay $1300 for the new bumper....

Correct me if I am wrong...

Here is a picture of an aftermarket nose that shows what I am talking about when I say it's just a "shell" that goes over the strucutral OEM parts.

So, ask HIM how much.

There! You know what you're doing! No cash outlay on your part (deductible) and you're going to upgrade too. Sounds like a plan.

By the way, good advice Lud.
