old tires for track

My front tires are 4 years old and the rears are 2 years old yoko neova, you think they're still ok for track?

Please advice.

Assuming you just want to get some seat time (not competitve driving) they might be fine.
Check for fine cracking / dry rot and if they are visually OK then why not use them up?
Having newer rears should help give you a more understeer balance (which is safer than the reverse) all things being equal.

Re: storing tires

In a nutshell, rubber ages/deteriorates with sun, ozone and temperature changes. So the best way to store tires at home is to wrap them airtight in heavy duty (shipping) saran wrap, put them in black garbage bags and store them in the house in a closet. The wife won't be happy.........but what else is new? :redface:
