I plan on changeing the oil and from what I got from the search i need to buy 6 quarts (5.3qt actually needed) and then 2.9qt for transaxle. I have read that you use 10w30 for transaxle but wasn't sure if that was too accurate.

Besides those 2 oils would that be all? usually there is a differential oil, tranny oil and normal oil.

10W30 for engine is fine Mobil 1 or any of the good ones if you like synthetics

I use Honda MTF in the trans, it is reasonably priced and works well.

You quantities are correct. ONLY use a OEM oil filter for the NSX, and get a new crush washer:)

My uncle is a distributor for motul I was going to use synthetic for both.

- What do you think about motul?

- What is the oil weight of the transaxle oil? I seen one post with 10w30 but usually its heavier right?

My 91 manual says use 10w30 or 10w40 SAE grade SE or better for the trans. You can use any product you like as long as it meets the above. I use Honda MTF in the trans. I use regular non-syn oil for the engine in the recommended 10W30.

As Brian has said there is only 2 oils. One for the engine like Mobil 1 10/30w and one for the trans like the new Honda manual transmission fluid or I've always liked Redline's MTL. Do not use engine oil in the transmission no matter what you've heard.

Second gear is a little easier to engage when my car is cold since I changed the transmission fluid from Redline MT90 to Mobil 1 10W-30. I used motor oil because that's what the service manual calls for (p.13-3). With all the good reports on Honda MTF, I'll probably try that next time.
