When you say oil surge, and refer to the top of the engine, do you mean that oil escaped from the valve cover seals or the hose came off the breather port?

We make a breather box which allows crankcase pressure to be more easily evacuated and trapped.

However, even on our built engine, we have not seen any measurable amount of oil collected in the box.
