Oil.... Shell?, Castrol?

I have a weird oilpressure problem with my NSX, so i spoke to this guy who is the mechanic for a NSX-prototype, racing in the European trophy, and claimed that i had to use Shell oil in my NSX, since it's the best there is.

Then i spoke to this other geezer, who is supposed to know about oil's, and claimed that Shell-oils are the worst there are.

Any concrete info on this?

Could you tell a bit more about what kind of weird problem you have with your oil pressure. It might have nothing to do with the kind of oil you are using.
As far as the brand is concerned, AFAIK, the SAE-number given for each oil makes sure it will comply with the standards set for that specific type of oil. It that respect, there should be little difference between brand-names.

Its not really about brand than say quality. Most big name brands such as Mobil, Shell, Castrol, Elf, have a large portfolio of oil products. This ranges from low level economy oil to proprietary custom blended Formula 1 racing oils. You should ask for the exact model/spec oil when someone recommends a brand.

Hi Mich,

FYI, I used Castrol SLX , Agip Tecsynt and I am using now Shell Helix !

I've never had problem of oil pressure with any of these oils !
