i have nothing but small niggles of my car

I haven;t had my car running for long so this is new to me

I notice my oli pressure is running a fraction higher than others claim on the forum..

idling at 4 (on the gauge) and running at 7 (2500 rpm) , higher rev can take it to reading 8..

I know i have a wrong oil in the engine now (10-40) which i will change to 10-30 but i don;t htink that will make such a difference.

also my Vtec is no engaging as i do not see any pressure drop past 5k...

so.. what ca go wrong now?

thanks

The NSX oil pressure gauge (sending unit) is known to be inaccurate and slow so I would not take much stock in what it is telling you. As for Vtec the operation is monitored with a pressure switch so if it does not come on you will get CEL. You could unplug one of the pressure switches and monitor it's operation with an ohm meter.

the CEL light nor engine management light are no..

Ionly hae ABS and TCS light on which i need to change the wheel sensor to eliminate the problem (i hope)

How can I check if the vtec is working?

I was having flaky readings as well... but as long as it's within general normal ranges, I'm not worried. EG: Under half for idle, around half for normal driving, above half for harder driving...

Let me first agree that you don't need to worry. Sounds like things are fine.

Cold oil will show higher pressure. The manual (1992, page 8-5) says to let the engine fully warm up. One way to know if it is fully warm is if the radiator cooling fan comes on a 2nd time. Your readings will likely come down when fully warm (not just kinda warm).

Manual says:
At idle, you should have at least 0.7 kg/cm2 pressure. That is less than 1 line.
At 3000 rpm, you should have at least 3.5 kg/cm2 oil pressure.

To me, this says that if you have about 1 line at idle, or more, you are fine. And, if you are "on it", you should have at least 3.5 on the gauge.

Switch back to factory recommended oil grade and viscosity and get the Honda filter. Then, get it fully warm and re-check. You should be ok.

i will do another oil change tomorrow but i am worry that it run too high of an oil pressure that might blow some seals

i am running line 4 at idle and line 7 - 8 under normal driving (i.e. about and above 3k)
