Oil pressure light switch questions- (not oil pressure sender)

I have read quite a few things suggesting that the pressure switch that comes on the factory oil cooler (above the oil filter) is only to turn on the oil pressure warning light on the dash and the signal does not get piped to the ECU. That being said if its stand alone I'd like to hijack the port and run a brighter more obnoxious dummy light for this on my track car.

Does anyone know at what pressure the signal kicks on the oil warning dash light?

Id also like to know what the thread pitch to the sensor is is it 1/8 NPT or 1/8 BSP?

See "Oil Pressure Test" on page 8-5 in the 91 NSX Workshop Manual. Mine states the adaptor is "118 28 BSP". So it's a BSP thread (but those numbers seem odd ... possibly an OCR problem when it was scanned?).

Also see page 23-137. No mention of oil pressure switch value, but I suggest it would be quite low since the light only comes on at very low revs, below idle almost stalling.

Thanks for the input Sparky. I checked the manual last night and saw that myself, other info was few and far between after that. I cross referenced the part with other model acuras and it looks like a standard acura part, its a BSPT 1/8 and a 3/7lbs switch. From the manual it traces up rear head and joins the harness that enters though passenger side grommet. Im going to look at the ECU input and see if I can find it and jump the signal from there. this will save me from having to buy another sender (hard to find in that low of a switch pressure) and run wires cleanly.

The full ECU wiring is not so easy to find in the manual, but there's a good diagram under VTEC on pages 6-8 and 6-9. I can see the VTEC oil pressure switch (page 6-9 at bottom right) but I haven't time right now to search for engine oil inputs.... will look later.

BTW you wouldn't happen to know the answer to my oil pressure question in this thread ?

Well the oil pressure switch isn't wired to the ECU, but it does go to the "Integrated Control Unit" in the left footwell near the fuses, a yellow/red wire, and to the dash gauges of course. see pages 23-159 and 23-163 (and others). Apparently the ICU connection provides flashing of the oil pressure light when oil pressure low.

When you say it's a 3/7lbs switch ... does this mean is switches at about 0.43 psi (3 divided by 7)? that seems too low? Or perhaps it means in the range 3 - 7 psi?
