I am looking at the 2000 owners manual now and it says 5.3 US qt (5.0L ,4.4 Imp qt) I'm sure that's a mistake in Prime or wherever the spec sheet was produced. If I used your spec I would overfill by almost two quarts. (6.7 QUARTS IS FOR ENGINE OVERHAUL)If 6.7 quarts of oil for overhaul is correct that will calculate approximately 1.7 qt is left in the engine because 5qts is all it takes to put oil to the full mark. Makes me want to flush engine every oil change.

holy cow! NSXtasy actually had to apologize for something.... is this a first for our most prolific poster??

(and probably most well-informed....) ;)

Apparently not. A search shows that there are fourteen topics in which I have used the phrase "my apologies". :o OTOH, that's only once out of every 800 of my posts. And there are 93 topics in which anyone has used that phrase...

That means that Ken appoligizes nearly 3 times more often than the average posting member! Does this mean he's wrong more often than others? Or, just an oppologetic kind of soul?

You will find Ken in the catagory: Least wrong per post than anyone else. And please lets not start a thread "who is least wrong per post":D

Yes, I would think we are all greatful for his contributions. I know I am.;)

Back to the oil capacity point, I changed my 3.0L oil w/ filter last week and initially put 4.5 qts in. After the start/wait/check/add process was completed about 3 more times (very careful not to overfill) it came to an exact 5.0 qts. So about 0.3 qts are still left in the pan and elsewhere in the engine. Guess that makes sense.

One problem is Mobil 1 is so clear it was very hard to get a reading on the dipstick!

I also thought it was cute how Honda put the brake line directly under the oil filter fitting.

I used to take that brake line braket off all the time to clean off all the oil that spilled around and under it. Now I just place a plastic bag over the entire area when I change the filter.
