When I first changed my oil my drain plug had a black rubber o-ring on it not a copper/aluminum. The plug itself has a chanel grooved into it where the rubber ring sat. Anyone else have this? I have nothing indecating the plug was ever replaced for any reason...

just curious.

That is what I thought. So it must have been swapped out at some point...

don't mean to thread jack or get off topic, but where can I find some info about the car in VRoooM's avatar? Is that your car?

I have seen the plug you described. It is an aftermarket oil plug. There is a u channel on the shaft of the plug, and cuts across the thread to allow the oil to drian without having to remove the oil plug completely. I hope I am referring to the same plug that you have. The OEM plug has no u groove on the shaft of the plug and uses an aluminum washer.
