OEM Windshield - Special?

is there anything special about the OEM windshield on ym 1991 NSX? i recently had the misfortune of meeting a rock at 55 mph and it put a nice crack in the windshield. I called my local acura dealer for an estimate and they told me $810. However two local auto glass shops quoted me $250 & $340.

Is there anything special about the OEM windshield that would justify such a price difference?

Check with you insurance company, most major companies cover the glass 100 % without deductible.

in new jersey, an insurance claim for such a small amount could end up costing your much more in the long run through increased premiums. you'd have to steal my car in order for me to contact my insurer...it's that bad in NJ.

you should call and check, most larger companies will do it without prejudice towards you and no deductible, but if you have that cash burning a hole in your pocket then just pay for it
