OEM Rear Spoiler Removal

Does anyone have a good method to suggest about how to seporate your OEM spoiler from the trunk. After removing the 6 bolts, there is what appears to be three sections on each side of double sided tape holding the spoiler on to the trunk. At first glance it would look like you would use a utility knife to cut away the tape. But the tape is too far underneath the spoiler to cut properly. Is there another tool or recommended procedure to seporate the spoiler from the two sided 3m tape.

Thanks,

KOSH

its funny how you put this thread up right after i swapped my wing for a nsx-r wing.

you just need to slowly but forcefully lift the led brake light end of the spoiler still it starts to separate and just keep on doing it little by little until it completely comes off.

you will surprised at how heavy the oem wing is.

I used an empty Dave and Busters card.

I just did this a few weeks agon and I was baffled as to why it just did not lift off. Well then I discovered the tape! I used fishing line to do it. I think it was 10lb test and it worked like a charm. Once it starts to separate it gets easy.

Well, once again I'm glad I was patient and got some really good suggestions. Thanks a bunch for sharing the love guys. Hope I can return the favor one day. You just saved my car from some brutal scratches.

I know this thread is over a year old, but I'm interested to know what actually is the BEST method for separating the double sided tape under the spoiler. Seeing that I have a 2004 - the tape isn't anywhere close to "old" or being dry rotted.

ok - I went out and bought a very thin guitar string and used that. It worked VERY well, actually better than the fishing line IMO.

acétone sur la mousse avec une seringue ou un compte goutte et ensuite utiliser un fil de pèche pour couper la mousse!

acetone on foam with a syringe or an account drips and then to use a wire of sins to cut foam!

I slowly pushed in a small, tapered, wedge shaped piece of wood (covered with blue painters tape so as not to scratch the paint) between the spoiler body and the trunk lid. Once the gap widens a little and the double-sided tape is stretched a bit, it gets quite easy to cut through the tape with a fish line etc.
