Is there any way of repairing deep gouges/scrapes in the stock, rubber lip spoiler? I know that there is flexible bumper repair filler. Would this stuff work? How would it hold up against the lip scraping the ground in the future?

Or.. is this just a throw-away-replacement part? If so, about what is the cost for a new one?

New ones are about $130, I think.

Yes, you could repair the gouges, but you would need to paint the filler.

The plastic repair stuff will work very well ... it will actually harden up harder than the lip itself ... but it will be hard to get it smooth, etc. Sanding would likely be necessary and then painting.

Worth doing if you don't want to spend $130, though.

I've got a spare lip that's all gouged up, and I'm going to repair and paint it to match the body (red), just to see what it looks like.

Thanks, Paul. My concern would be for the filler cracking/falling off as soon as the lip is scraped in the pavement again--as I know it will be. If that were the case it would look a lot worse than it does now. Do you know if the bumper repair filler is flexible enough to withstand flexing of the lip w/o cracking?

Has anyone else done this job?

The lip has a texture to it, so you would have to sand/fill the whole thing to make it look uniform...seems like 130$ is pretty cheep to avoid this messy time consuming work..JMO:smile:

Thank you for all of the tips, guys. I didn't realize that any NSX body part would be so reasonably priced. However, i just began to refurbish mine and I'll see how it turns out. If not good, I'll replace it.

Remember if you get a new one, it is a 1997+ part. The original 1991 OEM lip is no longer available.

No mods, the newer one has wider right/left edges and fans out slightly more.

If you surf a little here you can find a pick of a 1997+ and you will see it.
