OEM Alarm

I just installed a keyless entry and thought I'd get the panic button to work. Well little did I know, my car does not have the factory alarm.

How much does the OEM alarm cost and how hard is it to install?

I thought every nsx had the factory security with the red light on the driver door.

The keyless entry system interfaces with the security system, so how did you install it without a Security Unit in place?

I looked for the red lights near the locks and saw nothing. To install the keyless entry, I followed the instructions in the DIY section and just hooked it up to the cable behind the glove box... pretty simple.

Follow the cable and it will lead you to the Securty Unit.

So it sounds like the cable was pre-existing?

I looked for the red lights near the locks and saw nothing.

I’m not sure if you mean the indicator does not light up or if you mean you don’t see an indicator at all. If it’s the latter, perhaps you were looking on the wrong side. There is only one security light and it is on the driver side door, near the lock. When the security system is activated, it blinks once every few seconds. If it does not blink, your security system is disabled - possibly because it thinks the hood or something else is open.

Ahhhh... I will check when I get home... you are right, I only checked the passenger side.

My real issue is I insalled the keyless entry last night and my panic button doesn't work. I thought it was because I did not have an alarm. I will check again tonight. I think I can role down the window and try to open to the door once it's locked to see what happens... Right?

Did you install the Honda (Acura) OEM keyless entry system, or an aftermarket?

The "security horn" is on the drivers side fender well. Maybe it is unplugged/removed, or a fuse is blown?

I disconnected the battery and reconnected it. Everythings working and yes I have an alarm!!

Emdoller, I installed the oem keyless entry in my 2002 and the same thing happens in my car. The panic button on the keyless entry remote doesnt do anything.

Im not too concerned about the panic button on my remote, but I feel like it should be working.

Keep us updated if you find the problem.

Everything is working fine. The only way the panic button works (I didn't know this) is if the car is locked for meore than 10sec or so. So, lock the car, wait 10 or so seconds and give the panic button a try.
