I was in Japan last week and had the opportunity to visit Motegi. Honda's test course/racetrack in central Japan. Featured at Motegi is Honda's museum called the Honda Collection Hall, a fabulous three story building built just to display Honda's wares. On the bottom floor is a gift shop, cafe, meeting rooms, scooter display and a walkway to their restoration shop where you can watch technicians restoring motorcycles and cars. The second floor is devoted to production motorcycles and automobiles and the top floor highlights the racing machines, both motorcycles and automobiles.
Yes, there was a nice white NSX-R, I couldn't read the VIN, looked pretty much stock, nice example though. Upstairs in the racing area was a GT Championship NSX (I tried to upload it as well, but exceeded my limit on pictures, so I'll post it separately.)
I took a break and walked outside only to hear screaching tires and engine roar. I walked to the top of a hill only to see a gagle of sports cars circulating a parking lot. A local sports car club was holding a track day, great I figured. S2000's werethe most predominant, but there were 911's, a Lotus Elise, Nissan GT-R (No not the new one but I did see one of them in Tokyo) even a Ferrari, a 550 I think..and another NSX-R, white, stock except for a carbon fiber rear wing. I had to wait for the NSX to make a lap. It had a stock exhaust, so it sounded pretty tame compared to everything else...
The driver spun it out on the first lap (cold tires? too much throttle?) fun nonetheless...
So if you're in Motegi, this is a must see. Not so much for the NSX as for Honda's accomplishments over the years.
No too much NSX paraphenalia, I bought a lapel pin..
