A successful Viper racer and shop owner (Bobby Archer) is using a less known brake manufacturer because of its ability to out perform the existing manufacturers. The name of the brake manufacturer is The Brake Man. Before I explain his reasons, I would like to add that his shop also sells Brembo and Bear/Alcoa? I personally have no experience with the Brake Man Company, but the testimonials I have heard make this company worth considering. Archers shop claims they have completely eliminated any loss or fade, in any race condition. They also tell about a recent world finals class where the winner (who recently changed to this brand) clocked consistent laps 1.5 seconds faster then his competition. The top three were dyno’d and that winner made the least power. The kicker is that the prices are far less then his competitors, especially when his stuff is compared to the race version of the Brembo’s… not the Grand Turismo kits. The Brake Man has multiple Patents and seems to be gaining recognition in the racing industry. They also seem to be somewhat of an authority on Brakes… at least by the magazine quoted on their web site www.thebrakeman.com
According to Warren the owner, he has had a few calls recently for NSX kits. He says that if someone would stop by with an NSX, he could measure and develop a kit. The phone number is 805-987-7867.

It would be particularly nice if there were a big brake kit that fits under the '91-93 stock 15" wheels, since there are so many extra sets around that us trackies are using for our track tires.

Part of the expense of the current big brake kits that are available is the requirement for new wheels.

Called him and I am going to take my car over there to have him look at it. I did inform him of the differences between the years(mine being a 2000). Other than Kens questions, does anyone have ideas I should ask him about?

I don't get the wave design.
They say it's to save weight?
I would assume they added weight as the brake pads have to be inside the inner wave, making the outer wave outside the pads. That would be a weight increase if you ask me.

I would guess they create some more turbulence therefore cooling a bit better?
Thay look kind of cool though, I guess. Different for sure...

What's going on with the link? - there's nothing (to speak of) there ....

update - aah, found it - the link posted in the original post had a "." after the .com, before the "/" - it doesn't like that.

Link should be http://www.thebrakeman.com

Actually I saw a few of the racing style on S2000 back in January 01 at Laguna Seca when they were having their first national event there .... I was impressed at their art deco styling ..... never followed on inquiring about their performance.

So perhaps our brethren in the S2K may shed some light ....?

The weight savings would be in reducing the thickness normally needed for equal cooling.
