Hello all,

I would like to announce that the NSXCA Board of Directors is now accepting bids for venues of NSXPO 2005. If you want a future NSXPO to be held close to your locale, now is the time to put together a proposal to make that happen.

NSXPO 2004 has already been decided, and the event is taking place in Corning, NY around Watkins Glen International Raceway from October 8-12, 2004. The deadline for the submission of bids for NSXPO2005 is February 28, 2004, and the venue will be decided upon by April 30, 2004. The board reserves the right to modify the deadlines if the situation warrants it.

For proper consideration, and to increase the chances of getting your proposal approved, here are some of the things that we are looking for, in no particular order:

1. A good overview of the event, a vision of how you would like it to happen.
2. Target date
3. A feasibility study of the area, which includes but is not
limited to:
a. Which track(s) are you looking into renting?
b. What are your chances of actually getting the track rented on your targeted dates?
c. A survey of different hotels for possible use as event HQ, including rates.
d. A description of the area where the event will be held, including the expected weather that time of the year, airline and airport accessibility, presence of good driving roads, etc.
4. A tentative schedule of events.
5. Proposed organization of event leadership, and planning committee. It is reasonable to expect that whoever submits the proposal, he/she/they will take an active role in the planning of this event, and are committed into making this happen.

There are two ways you can submit your proposals. The first is via email, by sending it as an MS WORD document attachment to the NSXCA Board at: [email protected] or via postal mail to:

NSXCA
PO Box A3416
Chicago, IL 60690-3416

If you are sending your proposal via postal mail, it is appreciated if you can submit 10 copies, for distribution to the various board members.

Thank you for your attention, and we hope to hear from you soon!

Best regards,

Wei-Shen Chin
President, NSXCA
On behalf of the Board

I'd suggest CA but people complain that we've had it here twice already.

Is there a limit to the amount of times we can have it in Cali? Too bad the tracks aroung here(Willow Springs, Buttonwillow, California Speedway) are in the middle of no where!!! To be considered, tracks need to be fairly close to an airport and have other attractions in the vicinity. Maybe Irwindale?

No California

Hmmm, seems like the Florida crowd should set something up.

It seems like 50% of the NSX's in the US are right here in So Cal, so why not just have the event here permanently:D

Fontana is close to an airport(ONT)...a pretty good track too....

So Cal in 2005 and beyond!!!!

Exactly. Why don't we just have our own CA NSXPO 2005 at Buttonwillow. We don't need to go cross-country. Our group is big enough.

I agree. The Texas group has their own event, and they're a heck of lot smaller than you guys.

Let Phoenix have NSXPO 2005. :D

Oh, how very endearing.....snob. At least East Coast NSXers made the effort to visit the West Coast. The reason you don't want to reciprocate is?

Oops, I forgot something. If you try to hold your own exclusive California NSXPO, you will not get funding from the club national level. Care to guess how much it costs to put on one of these events? No way you will be able to raise that kind of cash on your own.

You are comparing apples to oranges. The Texas event you refer to is not financially sanctioned by the club national level. It is privately funded.

Let Phoenix have NSXPO 2005.

Ain't just going to give it to anybody.....you have to earn it.

The Texas group also has no track time. That was the best part for me. A Dyno day and go-carts isnt exactly worth driving 500 miles for...

this sounds like anarchy on all sides.... Next thing this will turn into a west coast vs east coast nsxpo thing.... Hopefully we don't end up like Tupac Shakur and Notorious BIG... We don't need any gun shooting at the events...:D I can see it now my supercharger kicks yours, Oh yeah:D .......

larger regional events would be nice though..........

Or the next storyline goes a small band of renegade NSXers declare a soverign nation and start their own outlaw group.... Heck it could be the Hells NSXers......:D

Thanks for noticing. Yes, the Northeast contingent has had a strong showing in Wisconsin 2001, Texas 2002 and California 2003 in addition to having well-attended regional events each season. We can only hope to see such support for us from the left coast this year at NSXPO 2004.

Can't we all just get along!!

Most of the xpo fans do get along regardless of the venue.I hope we do get a strong 1000+ mile club for the glen, well worth the trip.I would discourage regions from putting on competing local events during xpo,imo it reduces the importance and thus the spirit of our clubs major event and most fun an nsxer is going to have with clothes on!

Sure.....as long as your fellow Californian - Joel - abstains from comments, along the lines of, "Let's do our own NSXPO."

Hmmm, with all the California NSXers we have, you'd think that NSXPO2003, in our own neighborhood, would have had 300+, maybe 400+ cars in attendence. Where'd they all go?

This thread should be moved to the NSXPO discussion section. The topic has been diverged out of the realm of "Southwest Region" section.

Cali is a BIG state...it was a pretty long drive to No Cal, so like I said, lets just have it in So Cal every year.:D

Or........ a place where everyone can agree on.....
Las Vegas!!!!

It's so easy to rile you up.

Perhaps it was the "rile-er's" selfish comment about having NSXPO in California vs sharing the event with the rest of the club, that annoyed the "rile-ee".

Perhaps it was the "rile-er's" insensitve comment about not needing to go cross country to the East Coast, that annoyed the "rile-ee".

Perhaps it was the "rile-er's" inconsiderate comment about wanting yet another third NSXPO in California so soon, without sharing the venue with other locations (last I looked, it is the NSXCofA not NSXCofCA), that annoyed the "rile-ee".

Gee, I dunno what it was that riled me. Having said that, I apologize for calling you a snob.

Geeezzzz . . . Enough is enough - stop the bickering!! Let's get back on track and whoever wants NSXPO 2005 in their area should start working on the proposal.
