You are wrong so consider yourself corrected..........
I have now been to 12 NSXPOs in a row - every one since 2001. Each one has been enjoyable and they are what the membership makes them. Over the last 12 years of NSXPOs we have had 9/11, war, the real estate bubble burst, bank failures, gas approaching $5 per gallon, credit card interest rates of 29% while CDs pay less than 1%, high unemployment and demographics whereby people come on here looking to buy an NSX for under $20,000.
We have had to scale back attendance expectations at multi-day events such as NSXPO while trying to increase the enjoyment factor for the smaller numbers who do choose to attend. Such is the way of the world in this economy where our pool of potential members is limited by the number of NSXs still on the road (a number probably in the low 6000s range).
We do not have the numbers of other car clubs because we do not have the production numbers such as Porsche, BMW, Corvette and other brands that may produce more cars in one year than Acura/Honda did during the entire run of NSXs. For example, less than 9000 NSXs were sold in the United States between 1990 and 2005. In 2011, there were 29,023 new Porsches sold - in that year alone.
We benefit from a very passionate albeit smaller community than virtually any other car club. We have learned over the years that we do not need 1000 cars to show up for an event for it to be successful. We have also learned that NSXPO needs to be rotated throughout the regions to give everyone an opportunity to be able to attend. That necessarily results in higher attendance in certain areas but success is not measured by shear numbers of attendees - rather we base success on whether the members who do choose to spend their hard earned dollars on an NSXPO feel they received value for that expense.
I admit that I am more than a little biased but I feel I have a right to express that bias - - - I have been to 12 consecutive NSXPOs and the friends I have made over the years at such events have resulted in my NSX ownership being one of the best investments I have ever made.
