Nsxotic's computer has a virus. It sends e-mails to people in his address book and the "from:" part of the e-mail looks like it's coming from other people in his address book. The e-mails have the standard innocuous virus subjects such as

The Garden of Eden
A nice game
Brighten Those Teeth
Sos!

Sometimes the e-mails are empty and sometimes they have a few lines of innocuous text.

Even though the messages look like they come from other folks, you can tell that they are from him by looking at the message headers, where they have Nsxotic's e-mail address in the Return-Path field.

He knows about it and he's trying to get it fixed. He asked me to alert any NSXprime forum members who may have received these e-mails.

I got it three times two different days. Luckily my anti-virus caught it. I just couldn't tell who it was from. Other than it had a lot to do with NSX's. I notified Lud, because there was some text about NSX Prime. Hope you get it all worked out. It is a w32.klex.***** strain. You can download the fix here

I received a couple of those too. Does it automatically infect when the message is open. I didn't think too much of them since there were not any attachments. Do I need antibiotics?

Beware Of The Following Viruses:

Ellen Degeneres virus..... Your IBM suddenly claims it's a MAC.

Monica Lewinsky virus... Sucks all the memory out of your computer.

Titanic virus..............Makes your whole computer go down.

Disney virus...............Everything in the computer goes Goofy.

Mike Tyson virus...........Quits after one byte.

Prozac virus...............Screws up your RAM but your processor doesn't care.

Lorena Bobbit virus........Turns your hard disk into a 3.5 inch floppy.

Woody Allen virus......... Bypasses the motherboard and turns on a daughter card.

Joey Buttafuoco virus..... Only attacks minor files.

Spice Girl virus...........Has no real function, but makes a pretty desktop.

Ronald Reagan virus...... Saves your data, but forgets where it is stored.

Dr. Kevorkian virus....... Searches your hard drive for old files and deletes them.

Oprah Winfrey virus....... Your 200MB hard drive suddenly shrinks to 80MB, and then slowly expands to 300MB.

AT&T virus.................Every 3 minutes it tells you what great service you are getting.

MCI virus..................Every 3 minutes it reminds you that you're paying too much for the AT&T virus.

Arnold Schwarzenegger virus.. Terminates and stays resident. It'll be back.

Viagra virus...............Expands your hard drive while putting too much pressure on your zip drive.

Yes and Yes.

I had one yesterday from "Syberdude" (sp?) with a subject title that had NSXPrime in it.
My anti-viral quarantined the attachments, and I deleted the email without opening it.

Three simple suggestions:

1. Don't use Microsoft Outbreak, errr, I mean Outlook as your e-mail client.

2. Do use something like ZoneAlarm as your first line of defense.
3. Do use a top notch antivirus proggie and be religious about keeping it up to date.

I use Outlook and I've never had any problems with it.

However, I did install the security patch to strip e-mails of undesirable attachments.

And I do use anti-virus software as well.

Yes, you and most of the rest of the world - which is precisely why most viruses and worms are written to exploit Microsoft products... avoid Outlook and you avoid most of the headaches

Remember When ...

A computer was something on TV from a science fiction show of note ... a window was something you hated to clean... And ram was the cousin of a goat.... Meg was the name of my girlfriend and gig was a job for the nights. Now they all mean different things and that really mega bytes. An application was for employment, a program was a TV show, a cursor used profanity, a keyboard was a piano. Memory was something that you lost with age, a cd was a bank account, and compress was something you did to the garbage. If you unzipped anything in public you'd be in jail for a while while a backup happened to your commode. Cut you did with a pocket knife, paste you did with glue, a web was a spider's home, and a virus was the flu.

Ok now its starting to get a little annoying.
I don't know how this thing keeps spreading. I think only two people on this site have my home e-mail. Can you please remove me from your address book. It might be worthwile for everyone to go to the site I listed and run the antivirus software on your computer. It will tell you if you have the virus.

Did everyone download the antivirus software I linked to in the above post?

Nsxotic, are you booting into safe mode first before you try to remove it?

The klez worm came up today in a security discussion and there are cases of people having trouble deleting it with the normal instructions. There are some files dropped by the worm that will show up in a search but will say not found when you try to delete them. My suggestion would be deletion from the command prompt (re-boot to command prompt) or try the free tools here: http://www.bitdefender.com/html/free_tools.php

Folks, it's not an NSXPrime virus, but a Microsoft Outlook virus. You can get the patch at the Microsoft web-site or any other virus protection web-site for free. It apparently sends YOUR entire contacts the virus and vice versa. I updated my virus protection and cleaned it out.

I'm back up and running as it looks right now. Much of the things on my comp are not the way they were before but things seems to be working ok. Thanks everyone for the help. Does anyone know how to make my comp. remember all my user names and passwords on various sites like it used to? It seems to only remember a max of two now and no passwords... What do I click?
