It was my bday weekend last weekend and my GF and I decided to go for a little road trip to the central coast. We took PCH/101 and of course, for such a road trip, I had to take the NSX. It was the longest drive I've taken with it to date.
We left Friday afternoon. Of course we had to stop by Neptune's Net for lunch. We didn't get the tuna.
I didn't take any pics on the way up because I was concentrating on driving, but the next morning we woke up to a foggy but beautiful sea shore.
We stayed in a seaside inn called The Blue Dolphin. Highly recommended, everything was incredible.
It was an especially beautiful time of the year because all of the flowers were blooming.
We had the room on the 2nd story on the left corner that's not the front.
Headed out into town.
And got a great sandwich and some soup.
Got some coffee.
Stopped by a really awesome succulent shop.
Went back to the hotel to rest.
And then headed out for dinner at a place called the Black Cat.
Everything was delicious.
Deep fried stuffed green olives.
Caesar salad with bacon jam toast.
GF had baked polenta and cheese.
I had scallops with bacon, apple, and brussels sprouts.
For dessert we had sticky toffee cake, which was ridiculously good.
We rushed back to the hotel so we could catch the sunset from our room.
The next morning we packed up and headed out to Hearst's Castle.
Some roadtrip carnage.
It was a gorgeous day.
It's an impressive building and very cool. I had never been, so it was a lot of fun.
The tour we took was of the upstairs rooms which included the bedrooms and libraries. One of the things that fascinated me most about the building was the ceilings. Hearst imported them from all over the world.
Another ceiling.
What an amazing view.
Lampshade.
Another ceiling.
Rack of vintage news papers.
Hearst's study.
After our tour was done we strolled around outside.
It's awesome because the exit takes you through an amazing indoor pool.
We headed across the way for lunch at a place called Sebastian's. We had a Cobb salad.
And no joke, the best beef dip I've ever had. They use Hearst Ranch beef, which is all free range. So delicious.
Our view during lunch.
Then we headed back home!
It was an awesome time, I highly recommend Hearst's Castle, it's a very cool and interesting place. I think one of the things that made it especially beautiful was the fact that all of the flowers were in bloom. Thanks for looking!
