When did you buy your NSX? (for how long have you owned it)

When did you encounter the first problem with the NSX and what kind of problem was it?

/Stef

Bought mine (92) in Oct of last year. In the first 3 months I had to fix the Climate control unit, replace the blower motor and power transistor for the AC, rewire the stereo system (aftermarket installed by a high-schooler, apparently) door handle broke, windows had to be lubed, all brakes had to be replaced, BOTH horn buttons popped out of the steering wheel on me, and the tail lights had to be drilled to allow moisture to escape. A few other things too, I just am not going to go through my records.

On the flip side, I knew about some of the issues, and did most of the work myself, saving a bunch of money. To me, whenever you buy a car you always have to get used to each other, and Roxanne is now in a much better home, which I think she now realizes, as I have not had one bit of trouble in over 6 months (knock on wood).

Overall, the car is much more reliable than any other car in its class, and if you are looking to purchase, take your time and find the car that is right for you. Mine was a "gotta have it, before time runs out" purchase, and if I had to do it over again, I still would definitely have an NSX, and maybe even the same NSX, as now mine has lots of new parts, that I no longer have to worry about. Good luck, if you are hunting.

Bought my 2002 NSX about 8 weeks ago. No major problems. Hood alignment is a bit off and it doesn't always start on the first crank. Also, the idle is rough until the engine reaches temperature. Even with these minor defect, Overall the car is AWESOME!!

This is not common, it's universal! They are all rough at fast idle speed (~1400 rpm) - seems odd compared to other cars, but once you get used to it, no big deal. You don't feel it under load, just when idling.

1999 NSX-T, Spa Yellow Pearl, serial # 00090 Bought it brand new in December of 1999. The car is just perfect! No failures of any kind, no rough idle as reported above, just perfect!! Notchy into second gear when cold (I understand this is normal but detracts from perfection). ABS apparatus in front makes awful and embarrassing noises once in a while, slight metallic rattle somewhere around the engine bay, can't pinpoint the source but can live with it without too much pain. Rear tires need to be replaced every 10K miles, front ones every 14K - other than that, an awesome car!! I'll never sell it!!

I'll be in Bangkok from 1/8 to 1/11, any NSXrs there?

Got mine in May of this year. No problems, infact - perfect! However, my radio is not working now and I'm actually doing a search for some help on the subject now.

Do you know of another Green-Black roof NSX?? Please email me if you do.

Bought a '91 13 months ago with 92K miles. Been driving it daily since Jan 15 and it now has 105K on it with only oil changes and a small gasket and coolant cap replaced. But the big factor was that the car had already had the 90K service and a new clutch and had most recently been serviced by Mark Basch.

I have also done the window thing/lube as well as all three Bose amps but had planned to do those before I bought it.

Bought new in December, 1990.

In May, 1991, I drove it to Mid-Ohio, doubling the mileage on it to 800 miles. In my second track session, the starter ring gear came off the flywheel. They replaced the entire clutch under warranty.

In the 51K miles and ~60 track events since then, I've had all the scheduled maintenance done, and I've gone through the usual combination of consumable parts that you expect to wear out (tires, brake pads, tires, rotors, tires, clutch, tires, battery, tires, shocks, tires, trunk struts, tires, engine hatch struts, and tires). I had the window fix-it thingies installed, replaced a wheel bearing, and had the stereo amps fixed on both sides - all minor and inexpensive. All in all, given the miles and particularly the track usage, I think reliability has been great.

I bought my first one Thanksgiving 2000. I have replaced a couple of O2 sensors (under service bulletin), the power steering computer (under service bulletin), and a clutch slave cylinder (was leaking when I bought it). Other than a clutch, and brake pads and tires, it has been a joy.

I bought my second one last month, and replaced the clutch as part of the deal. It had the broken drivers door handle and the slow window, but I am gutting the car for the track, so I do not care! Runs really strong at 102,000 miles.

Bought mine in May 99 from original owner. with around 28K miles. About 3 months later the rear Vtec switch went out (about $60). Snap ring broke about 7 months later. Marin Acura helped me in getting goodwill from Honda of NA. I replaced the clutch with Dali (centerforce) clutch.

About 1.5 yrs ago, the bose amp went bad and decided to replaced it with aftermarket stereo.

About 1 year ago had to replace the radiator because some moron threw a key out of his window and flew into my radiator opening.

Now it is almost 51K. Other than regular maintenance it's been trouble free.

Bought mine new in Jan 02. Shortly after, the display on the radio failed; half the display was dimmer than the other half. Fixed under warantee. No other issues.

Bought my '91 in 1997 with 10K on the clock. I've replaced a leaky rear strut and an oil pressure regulator o-ring a year later. Last year the driver side Bose amp failed but had both driver & passenger amps redone.

Have 44K miles now and it has been basically trouble free. I love Hondas!
