There are no particular years to avoid.  There are two serious problems that afflicted the early cars (and which you can read more about in the "Troubleshooting" section of the FAQ): the window regulator problem on the '91-93 which is easily preventable through the installation of the $15 Dali Racing window fix-it thingies, and the snap ring problem which affected some of the '91 and all of the '92 (identifiable by their transmission number) and which you can read advice about here.


The improvements on the '97 are substantial, but whether it's worth spending another $10K over a '95 (or $20K over a '91) depends on your financial situation.
