Here are a some places you can check out...

Beaches area - Queen street east (nice to walk around, etc)
Kensington market - good eats, have some coffee at Moon Bean
Eaton's Center - Shopping Center downtown
Chinatown - good eats
Yonge and Eglinton - nice to walk around, etc
King Street West - nice to walk around, etc
Queens Quay - cheezy tourist mall by Lake Ontario
St Lawrence market - good eats (farmers market)

It's not in any particular order, just as they popped into my head. Hope you enjoy your stay!

On your way up check out Niagara Falls, Niagara on the Lake is pretty nice too. LIke mentioned, the beaches are nice (mind you they are for walking, swimming is not a good idea, you might come out with deformities, haha). CN Tower, Yonge Street is filled with shops (Yonge and Dundas is kind of like the Broadway of New York). Also, the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum), the Science Centre is cool. Casa Loma is quite interesting. Skip the Eaton Centre and go for shopping at Yorkdale Mall just north of the city ( you can take a 15min subway ride from downtown to Yorkdale). If you want to check out some Hong Kong culture, head out to Pacific Mall in Markham, very cool place, much like the modern asian culture in Asia). The Toronto Zoo might be an idea (pretty big, will take up a big chunk of the day). Canada's Paramount Wonderland is the typical amusement park with rollercoasters and rides, shows). If you have time head up North to Algonquin Park (more like a massive conservation area) Very beatiful natural environment, smells good too, however it is about 3hrs from Toronto. If you want to shop, either yorkdale mall, eaton centre, Square One, Scarborough Town Centre, Vaughn Mills, Sherway Gardens are probably your the best malls. Not super expensive. Hope that helps, that's off the top of my head for you, most of these places are within 30-45mins or less from the downtown core depending on traffic levels.
