Last weekend I went to the first stages of the European NSX-trophy at the Sachsenring in Germany (former East-Germany) with another Dutch NSX-owner Gerard van S.
For me it was the first time I competed (standard class) and it was a very nice experience indeed. I was slowest in the qualification rounds and in both matches I also finished last. However, I did improve my lap-times from the 2:08 during qualification down to 1:56 in the second match. Since I was the only one running treet-tires and I don't have much experience on tracks I am not dissatisfied. In the second match I was able to keep up with the second last person (also standard but with slicks) for about four laps after which he slowly pulled away from me. I definitely do need new brake-pads although Gerard was able to help me out on my rear brake-pads after the first match. The Sachsenring has many curves which also wind up and down which is pretty hard on your brakes. Also, I probably used them more than necessary because of my inexperience.

The trip back to Holland was also especially nice. The 750km was covered in about 4.5 hours of which the last 150 km in Holland was around the local speed limit of 120kph (75mph).
In Germany however, were there are no speed limits in general, Gerard and I were able to cruise at speeds between 130-165 mph over a distance of about 450km which was absolutely great. We were certainly not the only ones doing 120+mph but only on two occasions did other cars tag along for a while. I have about an hour of it on tape, however not very sharp since the camera focused on my windshield instead of the road.
Thusfar my car is standard except for wheels (17/18) and it's a bit lowered but the NSX handled the road & twists beautifully with not a trace of instability, even when the road surface wasn't always smooth. Doing long radius turns at 250kph posed no problems at all. It was certainly an experience worth repeating
It makes me appreciate the car even more than I already did.
I just love my NSX !!!!
