NSX Service Manual on CD

Due to unforseen stupidity on my part, I recently destroyed my service manual for the NSX. Yeahhhhh! I was going to buy another one, but you all know the cost is @ $77. So I searched E-BAY and found the service manual on disk for around $10. I know some of you guys own this CD, and was wondering if it is worth the $. I can't stand rediculous loading times for Acrobat and that is my problem with using the one here on Prime. Is this not a problem with the CD?

As long as the downloads are relatively fast, I'm OK. 10 bucks is a lot easier to dismiss if any more self inflicted property loss moments occur. Anyhow, at least you can duplicate the CD. right?

Having the manual on CD in your computer will be much faster than accessing it over the web through the modem. The only issue is running back in fourth to you desktop couputer or draging you lap top out the the garage. One trip on the power cord could cost you much more than $77.

I agree with Brian that it's much handier to have the physical book than to look up stuff on the electronic version.

However, if you want the electronic version, why not just download it from this site once onto your hard drive, rather than buying the CD from someone who simply copied it from this site and burned it onto CD? And if you'd rather have it on CD, if you have a CD burner, well...

Doesn't the service manual have copyright protection?

I put it on CD and like being able to print out the sections I need. This way when I'm working on the car I can have them right next to me and I don't have to worry about getting it greasy. Worked great when I changed the clutch.

Like many here on Prime I have downloaded the manual.
I also have printed it double-sided and put the whole thing in two large binders. It's quite a hefty package.
But like mentioned above, I still print out the pages I need when I work on the car. They do get dirty and afterwards I through them away. No problem.
I would not pay someone on eBay something I can get for free here.

How long does it take to download? I have DSL.
With DSL (runing slow today @550K) it took 5min 35sec..

Oh jeeeshh! I guess I didn't even realize I could just download it from here. Just showing off my lack of computer prowess I guess.

Yea Ken, I know the book is sooo much handier, but like others I tend to get the pages greesy while doing my work. Not to mention my ability to destroy expensive things upon contact! My biggest complaint about the CD is now what will I read while I'm sitting on the toilet? The service manual is the only book manlier than Penthouse, PB, and Maxim put together. And the girls don't mind nearly as much.

I sure miss pulling out the circuit diagrams on those lonely nights.:(

I've downloaded it via ISDN 128 kbit/s and it took about 1 hour. Only problem: It's a 1991 manual (if we speak of the same file) and although it helps also on younger cars (as you can see on the thread stalling with A/C on) there are some big differences between items and drawings of the '91 model and e.g. the '98 (DBW is only one big difference).

The manual for the german '98 costs 390 Euro (!!!) printed and is not available at the moment - so I took the old manual - better than nothing. Don't know if the error codes are the same BTW.

Well, still a compromise on the specific manual for the German (Honda) NSX, but you can get the
Helm Inc. US Acura manual for $99 (~88Euro).
Note that the 97 comes up in the 98 search, but there were no changes between the 97 & 98 models.
I think the significant differences are in the lights & addition of the light washers between the European & US versions, which are probably not of major concern.

p.s. error codes definitely not same on 98 as 91 - 98 is OBD11; many other changes too - I'm pretty sure the US version 98 manual would be much closer to your German car than the 91 US car.

I think the latest service manual is 1997. After that each year has a supplement. So for 1998 and later you'll have to get the 1997 service manual and also order that year's supplement.

I have tried many times to download the document. I have a purchased / licensed copy of Adobe Acrobat Read/Writer 4.0 and I always get error number 107 that basically the document can not be read.

I have the hard copy but love the fact that the online manual has been indexed. Anyone else have this error and how did you resolve it?

Download must be incomplete or corrupted Nick - I down-loaded it & saved to hard-drive then copied to CD.
What speed are you downloading at?

I'm getting the same problem now. Well not quite. My download timed out after only 3 min. so the file never opened.

The .pdf file for the service manual is about 52 Mb in size. That's pretty big, even with a broadband connection. But I had no problem downloading it from this site.

Nick, if you are downloading the file okay, but can't open it, I suspect it's because you're trying to use an older version of Acrobat to read it.

Here's an offer for anybody who wants one - donate a PayPal payment for $10 (or more!) to NSXPrime via the "PayPal Donate" logo at the top of the page & I will personally mail you a copy of the manual on CD at no additional cost.
(with shipping included).

I have been meaning to donate something myself (I think many of us intend that & just never get around to it) so this way I can donate via the blank discs, mail & my time while you can donate & get a "free" gift & Lud gets a small contribution for some operating expenses.

I probably need to limit this to the lower 48, although I will also extend world-wide if you cover the shipping.
