nsx sales down yet again

I agree.

The 1997 upgrade should have appeared in 1994.

370 hp in 1997,
420 hp in 2000,

and at least 470 hp today.

The 2nd gen NSX will have to show a power to weight ratio well under
3kg / hp; I don't care how they will do it,

even if it is with a Citroën 2CV engine output ( less than 30 hp ! ) thus meaning a 90 kg total car weight!!! :D ( such a package would be nice until you get in the car )

Seriously, with a 1275 kg car this would mean 425 hp.

Just add a little 50 hp extra power and now we are in the 2,68 kg / hp league!

HSC, I look at your avatar picture and I would easily see myself buying such a nice white HSC.

This car looks great this way and I believe that not every colors are for every designs.

This one proves IMO ( with your picture ) to be very nice in white.

yup, i'm thinking re: a 3.2 targa 97?

85K for a new nsx is what a 97 Ferrari 355 with < 20k miles will go for.

375HP, Ferrari....*used* vs brand new 290HP Honda....

Cmon honda, put us out of our misery.

NO NO NO.... Here's how they should have done it.. Not with all that HP..

1994 - 3.2 engine update
1997 - NSX-R/S-Zero available for purchase
2000 - 3.2 350hp engine and -100lb + additional body cosmetics
2005 - final production year (3.2 350hp NSX-R for sale)

this final NSX-R with that HP would have specs like the 360 if not better.

0-60 in 4.1sec
0-100 in 10
Top speed of 185

This is just my opinion... I like it when Honda beat the rest with very little added... This 400-500hp business is easy to do.. large engine, costly and just like the rest.. Be more like Noble or Lotus... LESS IS MORE!!!!

I agree that less is more but to beat 400-500hp the nsx even with 350hp has got to have a lot less to be more. So can some one tell me just how much less does the nsx with 350hp, need to be more than the F430, gallardo, etc.

hp# for F430 and gallardo is around 490~500hp so with only 350hp is not possible, maybe 400hp and 2650 lbs.

With 350HP the NSX would have to weigh a little under 2300lbs to match the F430s power/weight ratio.

The 430 would still have a higher top speed...assuming similar Cd & frontal area. The NSX would have better potential handling.

In this hypothetical scenario I would prefer the lighter underpowered car.

Exactly right. I'm sure Acura is well aware of it but doesn't seem to be very concerned with it.
Good thing I'm not worried about what the next generation(?) will be like.

Yes! Honda is motivated by efficiency and with less they proved they were able to do more.

400-500 hp business can also be included in a LESS IS MORE philosophy, even 600-700 hp:

500 hp from a V6 3,8 L @ more than 132 hp/L

600 hp from a V8 4,5 L ...

That is the kind of less I'd like to see emerging from Honda...

Remember, in 1990, Honda were only a little bit less than the entry level Ferrari @ 300 hp: so 10% less of it!

10% less than the new Modena would mean at least 450 hp!

This is why I hope Honda is actually taking its time with the new NSX...

My thoughts are:

91-94: 3.0 270 HP
95-96: 3.0 290 HP help fix added weight.
97-01: 3.2 330 HP 8200RMP redline Update interior with JDM Nav Pod
02-05 3.5 375HP 8500RPM redline. Updated interior with TL Nav, no pod.

This car would scream with 375HP NA. It would probably also sell a lot more.

Of course, I would make the a limited run of Type R. Say 25 or so.
