At least one NSX-R is starting today 15.00 pm at the 35. 24h long distance race on the Nürburgring.

It'll start from 63. place with Klaus Niedzwiedz , Takayuki Kinoshita , Peter Wyss ,Werner Kather as driver.

The cup S2000 is also participating again among about 18 Civic Type R from the Civic Cup, one Civic Hybrid and other race prepared S2000s.

228 cars overall.

Sure, be aware the cars start in different car groups, SP 7 as fastest with cars with way over 500hp, the NSX-R races in SP 6 with 300andsomething hp.

The race started delayed because of a storm and some hail.

After about 3 hours last years winner the Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 RSR is leading with 21 rounds and a fastest lap of 8:50.439.
The NSX-R is 41. overall and 9th in class SP 6 with 18 rounds, fastest lap 10:07.833.
Best Honda is the Cup S2000 at place 31.

Is this a longer version of the Nurburgring? These lep times seem slower than a list of lap times I've seen posted before with the NSX-R getting 7:57 for a lap. Is the Honda S2000 and NSX-R in the same class? Interesting that the S2000 is performing better than the NSX (if that is the case).

There are 230 participating cars. That's like driving a slalom with moving cones. The risk of crashing or breaking anything on the car is not worth the seconds you'd win by driving with a knife between your teeth. Remember, it's a long distance 24 hour race, seconds may count at the end. But not after barely 4 hours.

I don't think anyone will be able to drive times under 8 minutes.

The S2000 is in SP 3 because of its fewer displacement but still it's faster than the NSX-R. Their fastest lap is about two seconds faster than the NSX-R. They are currently on overall place 34 and second in their class. The NSX-R is 37 overall and eleventh in its class. Lap times of the NSX-R didn't improve, it's 4 laps behind.

I see, I just assumed that these cars are modded for pure track driving; and thus, would show better times overall than the stock cars time list I saw earlier. I'm still amazed that the S2000 is faster than the NSX-R. My S2000 just never feels nearly as sure footed as my NSX, but their cars are far different from my cars for sure.

Morning, had no access to a computer in the night.

BladesNSX: There are countless lists of Nürburgring times, they are all worthless without knowing which lap they've driven, the 24h race is running the full Nordschleife circuit with 25km one lap.

Update on the race, Manthey RSR is leading, as always. 87 laps.

Best Honda, the Cup S2000 overall fifteenth, second in its class, 11 laps behind.
The NSX-R is overall on place 34, 7th in its class, 13 laps behind.
The Civic Hybrid is 25 laps behind on place 127.

Some more pics, no NSX tho..

Good luck! I look forward to hearing about the results.

The times make sense to me. If you're not waiting to pass a car, you're letting a faster car pass you. I'm sure it feels like a polite (maybe not sometimes) traffic jam.

Just arrived home, quick results.

Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 RSR won, 112 laps, average speed 157.689km/h. Stunning achievement for a family business. Olaf and Renate Manthey had silver wedding this weekend. Drivers: Timo Bernhard, Marc Lieb, Romain Dumas, Marcel Tiemann.

Best Honda, the Cup S2000. Overall place 17, second in its class. 14 laps behind, average speed 138.053km/h.

NSX-R overall place 26, sixth in its class, 16 laps behind, average speed 134.846km/h. Drivers: Klaus Niedzwiedz, Takayuki Kinoshita, Peter Wyss, Werner Kather.

To be fair it's a big achievement that the Honda's both finished despite 24 hours of racing!

Remember this circuit includes the actual race circuit, it isn't like Gran Turismo! ;)

Over ten minutes for the NSX is slow...and rightly so due to all the traffic of the race.

Top Gear ran a diesel panel van around the track at just over 10 minutes.

As said, that is not the same circuit. You can take away about 1min 30secs and you get a rough guess at what their Ring time would be.

I found this pic from the race on the official Japanese Gran Turismo site (if only this was a screenshot of the next game):
