NSX-R made #26 in AutoExpress' "Top 50 Cars to Drive b4 You Die" list

Citroen 2CV was actually in the top 20!! I drove one of them when I lived in Europe.... That car was down right terrible... Who comes up with these rankings?

26. Honda NSX Type R

Every now and then, a car challenges the boundary between road model and racer. In its 11 years, the NSX has always been regarded as a talented supercar, but when the Type R version came along last year, we were left open-mouthed. The mid-engined rear-wheel-drive car produces 276bhp and sprints from 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds. Drive one and you will immediately feel totally wired. It takes a committed and talented pilot to take it by the horns and throw it around.

22. Ford GT40
Without doubt the most dramatic Ford ever. Legend has it the GT40 _ so named as it's 40 inches tall _ was built in response to Ferrari pulling out of a Ford takeover. Designed to conquer the Le Mans 24 Hours, it was an unstoppable force, and seeing and hearing one today is truly evocative. Tall drivers won't be able to fit inside the tiny cabin, but as only a handful of road cars were built, the closest most get is at a classic race meeting.

9. Lotus Elise MkI
The engineers at Lotus decided to show their skill by coming up with a sports car which was both light and reasonably practical. Thanks to a glued alloy chassis and plastic bodywork, the Elise's MGF engine delivered supercar-rivalling performance, but there was still enough space for a boot and even a radio. Drive one today _ and there are plenty of them about on the fleets of track day experience companies _ and you'll soon realise what all the fuss was about in 1996.

7. Lamborghini Murciélago
Think supercars and two Italian marques spring to mind. But while Ferraris are about grace and pace, Lamborghinis represent the ultimate in brutal power, and the Murciélago is one of the most dramatic yet. Unlike Lambos of old, the latest model isn't as challenging to drive in town, but it has serious speed. There are few ways of attracting more attention in traffic either, but getting behind the wheel requires a mega bank balance or seriously wealthy friends.

3. Porsche 911 C2
With a fine heritage and legendary image, the Porsche 911 still refuses to take the conventional route. Its horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine is mounted behind the rear axle, giving the car a low centre of gravity and tail-happy cornering _ although electronic traction and stability aids make the latest model safer to drive quickly. Blistering performance, wonderful handling, perfect steering and a sed- uctive exhaust note mean the 911 is a dream car. Can't afford a new one? Classic examples start at around £10,000 and are guaranteed to put a grin on your face.

2. McLaren F1
Even today, there's nothing that displays the same uncompromised engineering purity as the McLaren F1. Why should you drive it? Because it's the fastest. In the centrally mounted driver's seat you have access to a 0-60mph time of 3.2 seconds and a 240mph top speed. The bespoke 12-cylinder 600bhp engine is hand-built by BMW, while the body was fashioned in carbon fibre. Only the most skilful drivers can tame it on the limit _ but only the richest get to try.

:D :D :D

1. Mini Cooper
Everyone should drive a Mini at some point in their life. Alec Issigonis's "Wizardry on Wheels" is an enduring masterpiece and even now is a hoot from behind the wheel. As ever, the best ideas are the simplest, and the original Mini employed basic suspension to deliver its go-kart ride. That, coupled with brilliant steering and the A-Series engine, meant it was great to drive. Many owners are extremely passionate about their cars, and often modify them (our example right has a tow bar and extra chrome). Everyone knows someone who owns a Mini, so buy them a drink and ask for a go!

They put the total POS Dodge Charger (I had one) higher on the list the the NSX-R...idiots!

...never quite realized that the performance of the new NSX-R is that good.

This spec is good enough for me actually, rather than waiting for the new NSX replacement. I will be buying one of those within 3 years hopefully! (Start saving up... again, for 30th birthday present may be)

I think Honda UK is not bringing them in, so thats great for me (it will be rare here)
