I just got my car back from Niguel Motors who installed an NSX-R Front Brace which I purchased from Dali Racing - Wow it changes the whole feel of the car in a good way! Especially since mine is a T people have said it ought to make a big difference. It REALLY tightened up the front end and makes it feel sooooooooo much more solid! It's not one of those imagination mods where you have to convince yourself you think you feel a difference.

Do you have any other mods, like sway bars or dampners?

When I tightened my front sway to the stiffest position, the steering got heavier, just curious how much more the R bars change this .....

Hey Guys - I have Eibach 1.25" lowered springs, everything else is stock with the suspension. I am creeping to the garage right now with my dig cam to see what I can snap off and post for your peepers.

I got both, as far as I saw you have to buy both top & bottom. OK here's a link to the zip files that Mark Johnson emailed me, so its not me or my car, I am guessing he won't mind me distributing them freely as they are potentially a sales tool.

My pics I took of my car I am working on, but there isn't much to see from above . . .

Oh yeah, I guess you could say the steering got a little heavier, to me its more of a "firmer" and sure of itself feeling, kind of like the feeling you get in a benz that your driving a tank, but of course in the NSX it doesn't feel like a tank . . a tough description but I like the feel for sure.

Hey, that's Stella! and she's a BIG help in the garage. ;) This project she stole a crossbar mounting bolt and buried it somewhere in the neighborhood—what a good dog!

In the picture links above, Pics 1 show a “shortcut” installation of the front crossbar where you move the radiator out of the way and do it all from the top of the car instead of installing from the bottom. This procedure REQUIRES an air ratchet and skinny arms. I sent those pictures to Mark to help illustrate another way of installing the bar.

Black&Tan97Tnewportbeach,

How long did it take you to install the reinforcement bars? What needs to be done? Any tips? Thanx in advance.

Hey NSXJoy,

I had it done for a song, with a Mobil-1 oil & filter change and CD changer troubleshooting and a $20 cash tip it was still under $100 TOTAL!!!

The guy Ramon who did it at Niguel motors said it took him 1/2 an hour since he now knows the routine, I didn't watch but the pics above are from the Dan-O guy doing it as he wrote.

Good luck, its a totally worth-it mod in my opinion!

PS_ theres a text file in one of the .zips above with verbal install instructions.

Thanks for the picture and install tip... Those are gonna help when I get them. I was wondering where the bars went. But thanks to you and Stella. I know now, and Knowing is half the battle.

Black&Tan97Tnewportbeach,

I should've checked your zip files before bothering you :p

That's really thoughtful of you to include the installion procedures. Thank you!!! These are gonna be my next mods ;)

i just had the nsx-r braces installed on my car as well. they do make a big improvement on how the front end feels when you are making quick lane changes or at the limits of the car's handling ability... but as far as improving the handling... nothing that i have noticed.
note* i have the dali track swaybars on my car and i was a little concerned at first with all the talk of the nsx-r bars hitting the swaybars. after install i noticed what they were talking about... but am 0% concerned with it. the swaybar just barely taps the brace under extreme conditions... such as hitting a speedbump a little too fast, etc.
overall i am 100% satisfied with the bars. they were well worth the couple hundred bucks they cost.

Did you not notice that the steering was trying to track the car more in a straight, some resistance to steering it off center?

I don't have the R brace but have been contemplating about it. I stiffened the Comptech sway bar to the stiffest position in the front - and this is supposed to add only 70 ft/lbs of pressure. I attribute my earlier comment that the steering was becoming heavier to losing some of its power steering lightness .... I have a 98T. I have heard similar comment from one who used the brace on a Zanardi (closer to stiffer sway bars).

However, there is more squeaking (though not rattling) noise when I drive hard or on the track .........

after they were first installed, i noticed the car had more of a tendency to "go where you point it." regarding your question about "wanting to track in a straight line"... i couldn't tell you.
it simply feels more firm up front with an increase in steering response.
once again... well worth the couple hunderd bucks.

You can help mitigate this a bit by loosening the four anti-sway bar mounting bolts and sliding the mounts all the way towards the rear of the car; this provides a little more anti-sway bar/lower crossbar clearance.

And just a reminder about the instruction Pics files posted above, Pics 1 is for a shortcut install with an air ratchet and a new utility knife razor blade, it will NOT work at all with regular hand tools because there is not enough room to turn the ratchet; also, if not careful the procedure could result in some radiator damage. Pics 2 & 3 should be used with the lower bar and for the front bar and only use the Stella shortcut after looking at both procedures and figuring out which will work best in your particular case.

Good luck,
DanO

dano-
thanks for the tip! had my car over at anytime's garage last night and moved the swaybar brackets back (he even ground down the washers a little to get max clearance.) worked like a charm. haven't heard the bar make contact with the chassis brace since.
