I keep on reading on the forums here that whenever people repaint their cars from black to white, they keep their engine bay black because that's how the NSX-R has it..

They are either:
1) They are saying this to convince themselves this was the right choice to save $$$ in not having to take out the engine...
2) They are telling the truth

So which is it? :)

Personally, I like the black engine bay. Adds a nice touch to a white car.. That's how my 86 is gonna be done when i repaint it. Black engine bay and white exterior.

sorry to bring up the old thread.

What about the front hatch and the rear trunk? is it also black?

under the interior carpet?

Nope.

Underside of the front hood is carbon fiber (i.e. black) and under the hood is body colored.

The trunk is also body colored down to the frame but then the liners are black, just like any other NSXs.

So its only the engine bay that is black colored?

What about under the seats?

I bet it's the body color - think about it - the engine bay is black because they use that see thru grille over the engine. That's the only reason. Everything else would be just like it is on all the other cars. Just like the front compartment.

And you lose the bet.

No need to think, it's a fact. I've seen quite a few real deals in different colors (White, Red and Black) with the rear hatch open, mesh cover lifted in person and their engine bays are all in black.

Tim was saying that he would bet that *under the seats* was body color, so he wins the bet :D (not sure who would *take* that bet though! :) )

I wasn't clear I guess - my post was the answer to his question as what the color was of the floor boards under the seat - not the engine bay we'd already substantiated that it was black, or did you read my post - I even said that the engine bay was most likely black BECAUSe of the wire mesh grille over the engine bay....

Mlambert is right - who would take that bet??? it was the rhetorical "bet"....

^ Ah, gotcha.

I did read your post at least twice and misread it still, as a run-on sentence. My bad, sorry. :frown:

A good night sleep certainly made a difference with a clear mind.

Dinner and drinks on me for forcing on the 'bet", you never know, we might meet up in the future.

Hey no problem - my sentence structure is a little funky sometimes. Hope I get to HK sometime - that would be cool really. I've always wanted to go to HK. Long way for dinner though!
