NSX pace car at Mid Ohio

Finally, that blue NSX CART pacer makes its debut on national TV this year!

Frankly I'm tired of seeing the Viper gets all the attention, not that I have anything against it.

BTW, did the commentators made it known to the viewers that the pace car was a NSX (so that the whole world knows what it is)? I tuned in on the race just as it was getting out of the way for the racecars getting ready to restart. If they did, what did they say about the NSX exactly? Please quote.

They didn't say jack about it.

But I don't recall them saying anything about any of the other pacecars.

CART.com did a feature on the pacecar drivers once... a lot of the pacecar drivers favored the NSX... if I recall correctly.

Does anyone know of a replay of the race? I don't see one scheduled on the CART site. I went out for a morning blast in the hills and forgot to set the VCR. The good news is I met a guy who's had a 93 since new, (only has 20K on it) and was enthusiastic to learn about our club and the T-Hill Sept 3 track day.

Unfortunately, CBS doesn't do re-runs, and Speed Channel doesn't hold the broadcasting rights to this particular race, so you're out of luck.

Your best bet to see the NSX pacecar in action again is to tune in to every CART races yet to be raced this season from here on out and hope that someone F'd up and cause a Full Course Yellow (oh please Da Matta please let it be you!).

They have been using that NSX forever. I really like the color. I have pleanly of pics if anyone want to see them. It has a comptech S/C and exhaust. Did you know all those PPG cart pace cars are driven by women only...... pretty cool!

Maybe not. One of the Ohio Honda dealers at our event in Cleveland this past weekend told us that Honda totalled the previous NSX pace car the day before one of the races, when they were driving one of their top clients around the track.

That Blue NSX Pacecar does not have an S/C. It only has suspension mods.

Yup. CART's Silverstone Silver NSX pacecar was crashed by an Indy Lights (or Atlantics) driver taking an MCI Exec (I believe) out for a spin.

Let me see if I can find the articles.

Was that the NSX CART had at Motegi? That was a nice looking pace car.

If my memory serves me right, I think there were 2 NSX pacecars used at Motegi in recent years. A lime green (eewwww!) and a monte carlo blue (or was it kaiser silver?)...I last saw them plus a RSX-S leading the Champ cars at the warm-up lap before the rolling start.
